Cultural and political morality play, GREAT!
2 September 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Dubbed in English, but great visual effects, this movie is for a very narrow vertical of WWII Japanese naval, and Japanese cinema buffs.

An idealistic young math prodigy is convinced by admiral Yamamoto to help prevent war by torpedoing a planned battleship project put forth by war mongers, only to learn that it was Yamamoto who wanted to build aircraft carriers to start the war, and the battleship designer wanted to make a way for the Japanese to end the war before they were ALL dead.

If prewar Japanese politics and strategy are of ANY interest to you, you will enjoy this movie. Otherwise you will be bored out of your mind, and even if someone explained it you will still be shaking your head... I loved it!
