Kept Me Wondering
19 September 2023
The Undoing is a very competent who-dunnit which follows a family through the deceit of an affair which ends in murder. Nicole Kidman plays a psychologist who fails to pay attention to the tenets of her profession when her husband is accused of killing his lover. There are parts of this series which made me feel so unclean as none of the characters are very likable. They all have their secrets and malice's and each has deceit. There were a few clunky plot twists - notably in Kidman's character. At first she comes off very strong, then she too easily gets caught in her husband's fold. At some point I counted four possible murderers, so that kept me guessing. In fact I wasn't entirely sure who the killer was until the last episode. Kidman, Hugh Grant and Donald Sutherland are all strong leads, but special credit needs to be given to the supporting actors Noma Dumezwani, Lilly Rabe and young Noah Jupe who give real weight to their roles. Nice to see a nice, meaty adult-oriented mini-series for a change.
