A beautifully shot film about an absolutely horrible situation. The actors are outstanding, especially the lead. I suspect the truth was even more horrifying than what was portrayed in the film. The scenes in the tavern were disgusting, you could almost smell the decay and debauchery. The high society folks certainly didn't treat the main character any better. The scientific community treated her even worse. A powerful film that will stick in my mind and won't require a re-watching - probably ever. Truly more horrifying than any horror movie that I can recall. The only caveat, you have to suspend your disbelief that the tavern dwellers would still have nice teeth.
