1920s Poland
2 October 2023
An exceptional adaptation and remake, this film introduces innovative horizontal recording techniques, delivering a truly cinematic experience with a generous budget that vividly portrays Poland after regaining its independence. While the movie merely scratches the surface of the fascinating Art Deco era between the world wars, it skillfully explores the dynamics of intelligence versus impoverished villages, the flourishing Jewish communities, and the themes of ambition, love, and family. All of this is masterfully presented through engaging dialogue, exceptional acting, and a highly talented camera crew, complemented by top-notch music production.
