Before reading this review you should know that I have never played the game and I'm also not a fan of animated movies. However I'm a huge horror movie fan and this was one of the movies I hadn't seen until yesterday.
Here we follow Dante who is traveling through the nine circles of hell in search of his wife Beatrice who was murdered while he was away. The nine circles of hell are portrayed in different sequences by a total of 5 animation studios and six directors. This ensures some inconsistencies but also serves the movie with a variety of stylistic and visual choices.
Overall I wasn't blown away by this but I had a good time watching Dante slash his way through. And when I say he slashed his way through I mean it, it felt like none of the threats were really bothering him and he was handling each task with ease, which. Actually kind of disconnected me from his character a little bit because he felt unkillable. But apart from that I think this was a decent animated flick and if you like movies like this you will probably enjoy it. [5,6/10]
