Robert Walker is a bellboy at a fancy New York hotel who catches the attention of visiting princess Hedy Lamarr. He thinks it's love. This causes him to pay less attention to bedridden girlfriend June Allyson.

It's a very odd combination of pre-War fairy tale and MGM gloss, with Miss Lamarr almost immobile, leaving Walker to do most of the acting here. Considering his marriage to Jennifer Jones was being demolished by David Selznick, it's hard to believe he could give such a light-hearted performance. Even the MGM swank doesn't stand in the way. Given the end of the Second World War, people must have been hungry for such old-fashioned, simple fairy tales, because it did very well for Metro at the box office. With Carl Esmond, Agnes Moorhead, Ludwig Stossel, and Rag Ragland.
