I dig seeing a show targeted towards a more mainstream audience take a risk and go all in on absurdist bat- crazy humor and a serious dose of violent delights ! Mrs. Davis is a new sci-fi dramedy from creator Damon Lindelof of HBO's The Leftovers ;he's great at offering intrigue rich hooks . I also get a strong strong David Lynch vibe in the writing so there that too boot !
Mrs Davis is one of the weirdest TV shows I have seen in some time . I applaud the originality and the disjointed narrative.
After being ousted from her convent, Sister Simone (Betty Gilpin) vows to destroy the one responsible: a powerful artificial intelligence known as Mrs. Davis. To exact her revenge, Simone makes a deal with the algorithm and is thrust into a dangerous world of secret societies, religious conspiracies and age-old legends as she searches for the whereabouts of the most clichéd and overused MacGuffin -- the Holy Grail.
Violence is frequent and bloody: beheadings, impaling's, characters are burned at the stake (we see the fire and hear screams), with blood and gore seen at length. A unique and somewhat indescribable sci-fi series.
Betty Gilpin, a seamless comedic actress with vast emotional range, is exceptional. Gilpin doesn't even need dialogue to dazzle. Betty Gilpin is divine in Peacock's nutty nun drama Mrs. Davis (2023). 8/10. I applaud the originality and the disjointed narrative.
