Warning: Spoilers
This episode is the episode on House that really drives who he is, there is no romantization of House at all. He's being forced to solve a puzzle he doesn't want to, he employs deceit, he insults the rape victim and her belief system constantly in an effort to stop her, since by House's view it's irrational and showing her decision based on it may backfire, but that also works as way to give himself an out. If she starts to hate him, she'll not want to see him again.

House is shown as immature through the whole show and this one exemplifies his tendencies, very much like a kid being forced to play with something they wouldn't usually like that then starts to see some positives in the game. This is how House sees this case, a nuisance but by being forced to be a part of it he starts to engage with it and even enjoy himself a little.

He asks other for inputs, to solve this puzzle, to finish this game, however in this game the condition for a win is not clear. Which is the reason House hates it, and even on the last sentence of the episode they drive this point.

A lot of people had a problem with the backstory reveal, they thought it to be pedestrian and it is. See the context of how it was revealed, through a smokescreen and then right after House says how what happened to her is common too. It ties back. And it's not necessarily the reason why he is the way he is. Again, in line with House as a series.

Now for the other major part of the criticism, people think that House revealed his core to her cause he's a teddy bear on the inside. That's not the case at all, for him it's clear that was just a condition to finish the game, it was a strategy he was trying out and it worked that's why he's somewhat happy on their last interaction. It was a challenge he cleared, and he hated clearing it since by the end of it he has no real answer if he won or not. Once more, pay attention to the last scene.

How House handles people is still very consistent since S01 with Vogler's story, last episode of the same season, Stacy's husband, Foreman and his mentor. Even on the season of this episode with the barely legal girl... House may want the best for people at times, long as it's the best for himself at the time. This episode doesn't dissuade this notion either.

For now, that's all.
