Migration (2023) - A pretty good duck movie

Warning: Spoilers
Hey guys, so I wasn't really planning on reviewing this because, well, I didn't really have much to say but I'll do one anyways and let you guys know what I think about this movie. Let's begin!

So, first the story. Nothing much to say about the story, it's all right. It's basically about a father and his family of ducks going out and migrated for the first time, with wacky shenanigans ensuing. Not really the most groundbreaking thing but it's cute and simple.

Next up, the animation. For the most part the animation is pretty good in this. I like how stylized the ducks look in this, and certain backgrounds, like Jamaica and its glowing water looks really good. Even the less beautiful landscapes, like the city also looks pretty good. Also, the little 2D opening at the beginning also looks really cool, I would love to see an entire movie or short done in that artstyle.

Next up, the characters. For the most part, all the main characters are pretty likable and memorable. The only main character who I feel doesn't play that big of a role in the story is the uncle, I feel like his only real purpose is comic relief and to get the characters in trouble and that's basically it. He's pretty forgettable. Another character I'd like to focus on is the villain. The villain is pretty fun to watch. He's not dimming with personality or anything, but i like how the movie decided to keep him silent, makes him a bit more intimidating.

In conclusion, Migration is a pretty good movie, Expecially by Illumination standards. The characters are fun to watch and the environments look beautiful, but I wouldn't say it's the most groundbreaking thing out there. I'd give it a 6.5/10, which means it's not weak enough to be a 6, but it's not good enough to be a 7, so it's kind of in the middle. Thanks for reading!
