Bela Lugosi's on the loose again with some warped ideas that are getting women murdered across Paris. Dr. Mirakle (Lugosi) thinks he's finally come up the missing link and plans to prove by injecting the right woman with an ape's blood. Presently running a carnival sideshow, he and his simian pal in their off hours abduct women and discard them just as fast when they fail to match. He finally abducts a match (Sidney Fox) but must work fast with her boyfriend (Leon Ames) and the French police now hot on his trail.
A typical Universal atmospheric in its halcyon period with Lugosi doing Lugosi as only Lugosi can. Some spine tingling (as well as laughable) moments to go along with the indelicate undercurrent of bestiality to make it disturbing enough over its very brief running time.
