It's a preteen R. L. Stine movie that's feels like an extended episode of his 90's television show "Goosebumps." If this were 1995, people wouldn't hate it so much. Not sure why viewers are expecting more?
Chevy Chase and Dan Ackroyd both have very small roles, and for 12 year old kids, these 80's icons are just two old men. Maybe all the bad reviews are from people who are too old to be watching preteen horror flicks?
I must admit, that girl is obnoxious, mean, and condescending, and the boy is a spinless jellyfish. Other than that, it's another mediocre Stine flim that is following the same formula as his work 30 years ago.
