I hated this movie for so many reasons. I hate war movies, but, I adore Loretta Young so I gave it a watch. Young and Ladd zero chemistry. 1943, where were the dang censors at? I was appalled by the cleverly crafted gang rape scene. The young woman's screams made me want to puke. Ladd who sells gasoline to the highest bidder does a 180 after seeing woman and child dead on the concrete step. The brutality of this scene made me want to puke. Throughout this movie, I had to get in check my hurl reflex. Im shocked Loretta signed on to star in this flop. She was a devout catholic after all. China, a low budget B movie.
