The machine delivers the number of the constructor and family man Scott Powell, married with two children, and Reese snoops on him. Soon he finds that he was fired from his last work eight months ago and his wife is not aware. Unemployed, he has a huge debt in the credit card, and he insistently looks for a job. He blames Congressman Michael Delancey that eliminated several costs from the City Hall. When Scott is hired and goes to a fundraiser where Delancey will speak, Reese believes he intends to assassinate the congressman. Reese and Finch go to the reception and Reese sees Scott in the balcony; he runs but Scott was only a decoy for the hitman that shoots Delancey and flees. Scott is the patsy and is arrested by the FBI. Finch tries to find who framed Scott, but a hacker invades his system, and he is forced to shutdown. He contacts Zoe Morgan and asks her to help Reese and him to find who incriminated Scott.
"Root Cause" is another excellent episode of "Person of Interest", with the story of a good family man that is turned into a patsy for the murder of a politician. It is great to see the return of Zoe Morgan. Finch seems to have found an opponent of his level, and I am looking forward to seeing their showdown. My vote is nine.
