Finch tells Reese that The Machine has not delivered any number and releases him since it is his birthday. He also gives a key to Reese as a birthday gift. However, Finch is lying since The Machine gave the number of Karen Garner. Meanwhile, Agent Donnelly invites Carter to go to New Rochelle with him since there is Reese's DNA in the cold case of the murder of the developer named Peter Arndt. Carter meets Finch and he tells her to go with Donnelly to investigate the case. Finch asks Fusco to follow Karen, but he loses her track. Finch goes to the bar where she works to get information from her. He stumbles upon Marshal Brad Jennings, who tells that Karen's real name is Sarah Jennings that is a wanted fugitive of the justice and wants Finch to go with him to his office. However, Reese rescues Finch posing as Officer Stills, using his badge. Meanwhile Carter learns what happened to Jessica Arndt and her relationship with Reese. Reese decides to assume the protection of Sarah Jennings from her abusive husband, and Finch is afraid of the actions of Reese.
"Many Happy Returns" is another excellent episode of "Person of Interest", and the show is developing the past and the profile of John Reese. The viewer learns who killed his beloved Jessica, who connected him to life, and what happened with the killer. Carter is surprised with his attitude towards Brad Jennings in the end of the show. The scene of Reese learning that Jessica died and bumping a wheelchair is very sad. My vote is nine.
