early colored talkie
19 March 2024
Kitty is a hat-check girl patiently waiting for her opportunity to get on the Broadway stage. The production has many difficulties. The cast of characters includes angry comedian Ike Beaton (Joe E. Brown)

This is an early talkie. It's notable for being WB's first all-talkie and all-colored film. It's using a Two-strip Technicolor process. It's basically black and white with a hint of pink. I'm not sure if that's the original color or if it has faded over time. It's a middle area where there is a hint of blood in the faces, but it is far from fully colored film. The sound is pretty good for its era. As a movie, it's an inconsequential song and dance flick. It's also a technical advancement as Hollywood takes another step.
