one fun section

Mary Howard (Joan Crawford) is a successful novelist and independent woman. Her friend Jimmy Lee (Robert Taylor) is desperate to put a ring on it. Instead, she has a crush on her publisher Rogers Woodruf (Herbert Marshall) who is married to Clare (Greer Garson). Jimmy has a plan.

It was a 1932 play before becoming a 1933 movie. This is a remake. It's certainly obvious why Jimmy is gaga over Joan Crawford. That applies to every man everywhere. It's a murky start as there is no rooting interest anywhere. The movie only starts when Jimmy puts his plan into action. It's a fun little misdirect back and forth between Mary and Clare. I'm still not rooting for any pairing. I like Jimmy initially, but he loses me at times.
