The 23 year old Harold Lloyd tries to penetrate high society in this film. That's what we want to see Lonesome Luke doing. He's an outsider, and we want to see how he is perceived by the outside world. That's what makes Charlie Chaplin's character unique because he is part of the marginalized in society.
