One of the poorer of the Harold Lloyd 'Glass' shorts, this is little more than a demonstration of physical violence, and Harold and Snub try to slap each other to death, Bud Jamison gets beaten on the head by policemen with Billy clubs, and even Bebe gets her foot stepped on. Pay attention to the title, and give this a miss.

Not even close to being one of Harold's better pre-1920 shorts

During the 1920s, Harold Lloyd was the most successful film comedian...with ticket sales surpassing Keaton and Chaplin. His 1920s movies were amazingly well crafted, funny and often quite sweet. However, during the 1910s, Lloyd made tons of film...shorts which were incredibly different from his 20s films. Instead of being sweet, Lloyd's characters tended to be jerks and the film tended to rely on a lot of slapstick. These earlier films just don't hold up so well today. And, while Lloyd adopted the everyman look in the late 1910s which would be so familiar to his 20s bespectacled look, the films were often a bit mean-spirited and less fun to watch. And, among these films from this era, "Never Touched Me" is among the poorer shorts Lloyd made.
The plot to "Never Touched Me" is pretty basic.... Harold and Snub Pollard (among others) are rivals for Bebe Daniels' love And this results in LOTS of slapstick, including shooting at each other and a swordfight. It's NOT a nice nor fun story...mostly violent and mean-spirited...with none of the subtlety you'll find in Lloyd's masterful 1920s films.
