One of the more successful at the UK Box Office of the 15 film series

Firstly, the sound and print transfer to DVD is excellent.Plot has daughter Kitty becoming engaged (poor fella!)to Joe (Jerry Verno)who gets posted by the hotel company he works for to Paris.Old Mother Riley (Arthur Lucan)wins £250 compensation and along with Kitty (Kitty Mcshane)goes to Paris to find out what Joe is up too. The old standby script of this type of 30s comedy, spies and espionage slots in and in the end, there is nothing exceptional in the plotting.Mild fun. GOOF Both the walls used in the prison scene and the nightclub are the same, look at the drawings.UK fans of much missed TV entertainer Kenny Everett can see who he got the quick crossed legs idea from. More background for Arthur Lucan in my review of Old Mother Riley Headmistress on this website.

Riley, Ace of Spies

A garrulous, largely studio-bound shenanigans that doesn't even reach Paris until the second half, although then still plainly never leaving blighty.

For the historian the most interesting information it vouchsafes is when the term "quisling" is used as early as 1938 to describe glamorous female spy 'Madame Zero' (played by the late Magda Kun) for whom Mother Riley is taken.

Living the life of Riley in Paris

Not a great film and very low budget but with some knockabout shenanigans featuring spies and silliness.

Kitty has become engaged and her fiancé has been sent to Paris which he is rather pleased about so he can get away from Old Mother Riley.

Kitty and her mother go to Paris to keep tabs on him and find out her fiancé has become involved in a spy ring.

There are nice scenes of some entanglement in a night club between Old Mother Riley and a Latin dancer but apart from that it is too old fashioned.
