Acceptable Action Packed Universal Programmer
lchadbou-326-265921 March 2021
There is quite a bit of action crammed into this 79 minute Universal programmer, which was a bit long to be a B picture but didn't feature any big stars (character actor Charles Bickford gets top billing) and so wasn't strong enough per the contemporary Variety review to stand alone as a main attraction. The most unusual plot point in the movie is an appendectomy performed aboard the ship where most of the story takes place, with the medical instructions conveyed via radio. It is Universal starlet Nan Grey (she had been one of the Three Smart Girls in the Deanna Durbin hit,)who operates on baby faced Tom Brown who plays the kid brother of Bickford, and Brown later marries her.
