Fish Fry
CinemaSerf8 February 2024
"Andy Panda" buys the last fish from the pet store and is taking it home - bowl on his head - when they are both espied by a fairly ravenous alley cat. Lunch thinks he, and various antics ensue as the cat tries to bamboozle the rather dim-witted panda before resorting to brute force to secure his dinner. The animation is all pretty standard fayre depicting cat trying to catch then cook the high speed, gravity-defying, fish whilst the fish (and the panda) try to outwit the cat using the street furniture and a big dog. It's watchable enough, but I doubt you'll ever remember it. There's not much frying going on, neither!

Any cook worth her garlic . . .
pixrox128 May 2023
. . . would expect a picture titled FISH FRY to include a tasty recipe for preparing salmon on a cedar slab, or, at the very least, heating up some cod. However, this FISH FRY provides absolutely no incentive for culinary artists to break out their lemon juice. Rather than providing directions for filleting pike or subtracting bones from trout, FISH FRY merely depicts various shenanigans of cats and dogs. Given that pandas are more closely related to bears than blue gills, maybe a more appropriate title for this ill-named film would be something like BARELY THERE, or A THREAD-BARE TALE. Just don't call it such a misleading heading as FISH FRY.

Good, but not great, Andy Panda, cartoon
llltdesq3 January 2002
I'm at a loss to understand just why this short was nominated for an Academy Award. It's cute, Andy Panda is somewhat less bland than usual and certainly worth watching. But there isn't anything terribly special about this one. Oh well. Check this one out anyway. The cat is hilarious, particularly when he tries to use logic to get what he wants: dinner. Recommended.

Fish Fry should be renamed Cat Fry. LOL!!!

Warning: Spoilers
I had been looking for this cartoon for a long time. I finally found it. I've always enjoyed this cartoon. I like the way that the most vulnerable and "weaker" character is actually the strongest character. It was a change in roles. The fish told Andy to buy him instead of Andy picking out a fish that he wanted. It's funny to see a fish beat a cat at the cat's own game. My favorite line in the cartoon is when the fish says in a very sassy way, "Who's cooking fish?" LOL!!!! The cat goes crazy from hunger and not being able to get an up on any of the situations that he posed against the fish. I LOVE IT!!!! If you want entertainment and to laugh, this is a cartoon for you. It's fast paced, clever, amusing, and fun. It has always been one of my favorite cartoons. I'm glad I found it.
