You won't get the jitters watching this film
jimtinder18 March 2005
"Baby Sitters' Jitters" shows the Stooges as wannabe babysitters, in an effort to pay their back rent. Their first job poses a problem; the parents of the child have been fighting, and the mother is worried about the father taking back the child. Will the Stooges step up and take on the father?

You'll be hard pressed to find this film on TV or DVD. It was released on VHS in 1990, but not by Columbia, and it has never gotten a DVD issue. One scene that might make modern viewers cringe is the cavalier way the mother nonchalantly drops a loaded gun into junior's crib!

All in all, however, "Baby Sitters' Jitters" is a solid Stooge effort from the early 50s. The boys give it their best, especially when Shemp concocts a soup for the ages -- complete with oodles of cayenne, sage, and what Shemp calls "powdered bacon" (actually baking powder - Shemp couldn't read very well!)

At times, Junior is a bit much to take (who would want to babysit this kid?) but the Stooges make up for it with their blend of patented slapstick. Find this film if you can! 7 out of 10.

three Stooges and a baby
SnoopyStyle1 April 2021
Larry, Moe, and Shemp are caring for three babies which turn out to be dolls. They're learning to be babysitters. They're behind on the rent. Their landlord sets them up on a job.

This is very good for a Shemp Stooge Short. The kid is fun and plenty cute. This is a simple kid vs Stooges concept. They probably need one more idea where the kid causes mayhem for the Stooges. The hand-stand kid ending is funny until I considered that it was filmed backwards. The kid was left upside-down and let fall. I hope that they didn't have to do it too many times. It would be a problem today.

Warning: Spoilers
"Baby Sitters Jitters" is a very good Three Stooges comedy featuring Shemp Howard as the third Stooge. In order to earn some money to pay their back rent, the boys try their hand at baby-sitting. They don't do too badly, either.

Here are my favorite scenes from this short. Several times Shemp stands on his head to make the crying child laugh, but at the very end, Shemp and the child switch places! Since Shemp can't read very well, he accidentally boils a package of soap instead of soup. When the Stooges introduce themselves as the baby-sitters, Larry and Shemp hope the lady of the house is the baby! I also love Shemp's famous fighter's dance with the baby's father.

Some of the slapstick might be excessively uncalled-for, but "Baby Sitters Jitters" is a Stooge film worth its weight in laughs!

Very good Three Stooges short!
Movie Nuttball5 August 2004
The Three Stooges has always been some of the many actors that I have loved. I love just about every one of the shorts that they have made. I love all six of the Stooges (Curly, Shemp, Moe, Larry, Joe, and Curly Joe)! All of the shorts are hilarious and also star many other great actors and actresses which a lot of them was in many of the shorts! In My opinion The Three Stooges is some of the greatest actors ever and is the all time funniest comedy team!

I think that this Three Stooges short called Baby Sitters' Jitters is a good one. Lynn Davis, David Windsor, Myron Healey, and Margie Liszt. Davis was good and she looked good in this one but why wasn't Christine McIntyre who was a veteran Stooges actress? I guess because Davis could perform well as so fourth. Give this Three Stooges short a chance. I recommend it.
