Sympathetic and fun short movie with a great Spanish cast
ma-cortes9 April 2022
An entertaining and funny film with diverting scenes , grotesque incidents , nutty situations and hilarious set pieces , but above all containing catching touches of humor and irony . It starts with our starring Jose Luis López Vázquez staying locked-up in a prison and telling his past adventures .It deals with a group of crooks who swindle two Rednecks or Paletos by selling a tram .

An enjoyable comedy that takes part of "Los Picaros" TV series from the greatest writers , Rafael Azcona and Luis García Berlanga providing an agreeable script with full of silly amusement , laughter with tongue in cheek and entertainment enough . It follows similar style to Los Tramposos 1959 by Pedro Lazaga also with a team of cheaters carrying out out tricks , frauds , set-ups to deceive naive people . There are some nice jokes and the stunning cast playing eccentric characters make a cosy fit . Stars a great main and support cast with plenty of familiar faces giving top-notch interpretations , such as : Jose Luis López Vázquez, Goyo Lebrero , Maria Luisa Ponte , Luis Ciges , Xan Das Bolas , Luis Marin, Chus Lampreave , José Maria Tasso , Lorenzo Robledo , Jose Orjas and cameo uncredited by writer/director Luis García Berlanga.

The motion picture with atmospheric musical score by Jose Pagan and evocative cinematography by Fracisco Sempere was competently directed by Juan Estelrich . He was a prestigious writer, producer, production manager , assistant director . As he produced : Tristana , Long Live Robin Hood , Ten Little Indians . And he directed three films: The Anchorite or El Anacoreta , Se vende un tranvia 1959 and a sketch in similar theme titled How to sell a Tram in the French film : Les Combinards. Rating 8/10. Above average. Essential and indispensable watching for Spanish cinema fans .
