Strange Spanish musical fantasy
diazcdm30 October 2000
A strange musical drama, with some surrealistic ideas and a subterranean homosexual allegory, is about a young man son of a VIP, that like dance and very rude men. A rarity in Spanish cinema, that ignorant censors don't understand and can be see today as an error of them

A very "camp" Spanish musical of the 60's
viaradar20 October 2020
I remember watching this strange musical when I was very young; now it seems so outdated and camp, but hypnotic. It has touches of Cocteau, Minnelli and Murnau. Watch it as a rarity, not as a classical musical. Available in DVD, hard to find.

A peculiar Cult Movie with drama , gorgeous musical numbers , and colorful cinematography
ma-cortes3 July 2021
It's worthwhile mingle of music , overwhelming choreography , sentimentalism and drama . Stars Alfredo (Alfredo Alaria) , a drunk party animal and scrounger son of a wealthy man (Manuel Monroy) , owner of a prosperous buiding company . Alfredo dedicates his time to play and dancing at a theatrical stage . Alfredo has a girlfriend called Sandra (Sandra Le Brocq) , but he doesn't want to engage with her and a serious brother (Manuel Barro) . Meanwhile, his dad attempts unsuccessfully to change his lifestyle to remedy the debauched existence until the exciting final in which takes places a tragic event and eventually redemption.

This is a joyful as well as entertaining Spanish musical movie , nicely realized by Luis Maria Delgado . This an enjoyable and feeling drama, including tragedy and redemption , filled with attractive musical set pieces excellently choreographed by Sandra Le Brocq who has an important role in the film , as well . It is an attractive story proceeded in simplicity and delicacy and mostly shot in scenarios providing a lot of chances of dancing and singing , standing out the spectacular voodoo sequences . The main role is the cheerful Alfredo : Alfredo Alaria played by himself in a phenomenal way , can be said that he is perfectly adequate to his measure . As the scenarios in which develops this rarity movie are perfectly designed . Of course , the unknown Alfredo Alaria steals the show as a splendid dancer with dissolute lifetime , which , by all indications, is clearly gay . Alaria is well supported by Manuel Monroy as his strict daddy , Manuel Barrio as a very focused and mature young brother and Sandra Le Brocq as his hopeless fiancee . Catching musical score by Adolfo Waitzman responds appropriately to the ambient , originating a careful and charming atmosphere . As well as luminous and glimmer cinematography by Antonio Macasoli in brilliant color . The filmmaker Luis Maria Dealgado succeed in this picture , obtaining a great achievement , managing perfectly to the performers and taking advantage of them , giving the best of their acting . There are also brief apperances from familiar secondaries as Julia Gutierrez Caba , Gracita Morales , Marta Reves ,Cándida Losada , Pilar Clemens , Jesús Puente ,Mara Laso, Agustín González , among others . Special mention for the breathtaking dances and songs choreographed by Sandra Le Brocq , such as : Eva fue siempre fantástica Written by Adolfo Waitzman , Carnavalito gitano Written by Joaquín Gasa and Augusto Algueró , Zingue Written by Pat Bedoye , Time for Dancing Written by Sandra Le Brocq and Adolfo Waitzman Performed by Sandra Le Brocq , What is Love Written by Sandra Le Brocq and Adolfo Waitzman Performed by Sandra Le Brocq , Concierto para uno solo Written by Sandra Le Brocq and Adolfo Waitzman Performed by Sandra Le Brocq.
