Married Too Young was an okay cautionary tale of teens becoming man and wife too soon

30 years after previously renting this from Blockbuster Video, I decided to once again watch this on YouTube. It stars Harold Lloyd Jr.-yes, the son of the famous silent film comedian-as Tommy Blaine, a teen mechanic who wants to save enough for medical school. Jana Lund is his girlfriend. One day, they decide to take the plunge after almost completely giving in to their passion. I'll stop there and just say this was quite an interesting capsule of how difficult it is to marry young before realizing of the responsibilities. Of course, the parents of each are of different classes. It probably ended all too pat but, what the heck, it's still pretty entertaining. So on that note, Married Too Young is worth a look for anyone interested in these vintage films. P.S. Ms. Lund had given Elvis Presley his first on-screen kiss in Loving You. Her mother was portrayed by Trudy Marshall who previously appeared with Laurel & Hardy in The Dancing Masters. And Marianna Hill is quite funny as Marla especially when she shakes her body to emphasize her assets!

Sanctimonious Horse Poop

Warning: Spoilers
Ridiculous cautionary tale about two straight arrow kids trying to to the right thing and get married before playing hide the sausage in the spacious back seat of Tommy's rag top.

They are so cute they don't even spend the night together after they get hitched. All that the film makers show is the dreary side of marriage and not anything about all the boinking they are both enjoying most likely a good part of their 24/7 week.

Tommy trying to make ends meet even starts dealing in stolen cars one of which the newly weds are driving when they are chased by the cops. They go right over the edge of Mulholland Drive.

The haven of happy weddings... And miserable futures.

Warning: Spoilers
I have the feeling that this screenplay was written in crayon, because it definitely has the feeling of juvenile influence behind it, badly cliched with horribly written characters speaking the lamest of dialog and so one-dimensional that it seems like they are from another planet, if such a planet of cliched, one-dimensional characters exists. Harold Lloyd Jr. And Jana Lund are the unlucky young couple, both saddle with ridiculous parents and obviously the lack of the successful drama program at their schools, although Lloyd, based on his pedigree, should have done a better job. Of course, when you got a script like this, you really can't make much out of what could be used on use tissue paper.

The dialogue reminds me of something you'd hear in a John Waters movie, but he intended the characters to sound ridiculously stupid and trashy. This is so laughably amateurish and badly acted by the entire ensemble with the feeling that this was actually meant to be a spoof of exploitation movies of the 30's and 40's. Even the mature adult actors are acting like teenagers, with the mother of the bride so obsessed with her new membership of a country club that her social climbing antics seem completely over-the-top and Forest. Get the four parents together, and it's four times as insipid. I know one thing for sure. If I was teaching a screenwriting course in college, I'd show this film as a warning to students don't let this happen to you.

Definitely a chronicle of the times

"Serious" plot, but quite humorous throughout. Slang dialogue indicative of the early 1960's younger generation. You'll get a chuckle out of this one.
