Exclusive: Chris Evans, Anya Taylor-Joy, Salma Hayek Pinault and Brendan Fraser will star in Sacrifice, a film co-written and to be directed by Romain Gavras. Like his last film Athena that premiered last Venice and was released on Netflix, Sacrifice has a similar combustible and propulsive anarchy coursing through the film.
This is closer to satire, but the script by Gavras and Will Arbery was strong enough to compel the leads to commit over the span of four days since the script was sent to talent. More actors will be set shortly, and I expect that the project — CAA Media Finance is selling the world with Rocket Science — won’t have a lot of territories left by the time buyers hit the Croisette. All the elements are there to launch Gavras as a major writer-director, here making his first English-language film.
Here is the logline: a high end charity gala...

Green Lantern is one character that has been walked over for far too long, according to fans. While every other member of the Justice League was at least given a fighting chance, Hal Jordan was cast aside and never brought back into live action after the failure of the Ryan Reynolds film.
Ryan Reynolds in Green Lantern
Many fans have been begging for the character to be brought back in some way or another; be it in a series, a stand-alone film, or on the sidelines of another character’s story. Considering just how iconic and important he is in the comics, many do not think it is fair that the franchise has gone so long without actually incorporating him into the main series.
However, with the reboot and the DC Universe almost starting from scratch, James Gunn may have just teased something, and fans cannot control their excitement.

The TCM Film Festival always brings out the stars, and this year was no exception as David Fincher (left) took to the stage for a Q&a before Se7en.
The theme of this year’s TCM Film Festival was “Most Wanted: Crime and Justice in Film.” You know what that means? Lots of cop and detective stories - be they young or old, eager or disillusioned, good or dirty.
The three films from this programming block I was lucky enough to attend span nearly sixty years, showing how much the crime genre has been pushed. From screwball comedy in the 30s, noir in the 50s and violent nihilism in the 90s, each new era brings with it a new interpretation of the same roles in society.
Throughout the week, I'll be publishing recaps of the films I've seen from the festival, grouped by similar themes or slotted under similar programming categories.

Zack Snyder made fans very happy when he announced that he is very much interested in finishing his Justice League trilogy. After his tumultuous experience with the 2017 film and the long-overdue Snyder Cut, the filmmaker is now ready to tackle the matter.
Justice League (2017)
After the release of his Netflix original project Rebel Moon, Snyder has now a way to turn his plan to continue the Justice League story, albeit with slight differences in format and storyline. As Warner Bros is very strict with the rights of DC characters, the director would have to be very creative.

During an interview with Empire Magazine via Screen Rant, director Zack Snyder was asked if he would love the idea of finishing Justice League 2 and 3 through animation. As there are no confirmed reports yet regarding this speculation, Snyder was very confident to say:

From teenage heartthrob to global pop icon, Justin Bieber’s career is nothing short of extraordinary. His distinctive vocals and catchy tunes propelled him to stardom at an early age. Be it a meteoric rise or controversies and struggles, Bieber and fans have gone through it all.

Always a subject of conversation, he now finds himself at the center of a rather unexpected debate. Fans are divided on a debate that’s as intriguing as it is surprising: whether Bieber delivers his song better when sober, or while being drunk.

After returning this past January with the announcement of their first new album in eight years, Justice are back again with a new single, “Incognito.”
The latest preview of the band’s upcoming fourth studio album, Hyperdrama, “Incognito” is a dancey, inventive track, primarily featuring grooving instrumentals colored by glistening synths and tight beats. Spanning four minutes, the track demonstrates the French duo’s new approach to their signature sound.
“Like many songs on this record, it switches from all electronic to all human music abruptly, multiple times within its four minute run,” the duo said in a statement. “The structure is dictated by what feels good at the moment it happens, without necessarily following any other rule. We had to unlearn everything we thought we knew about song structures, and music in general, when we started working on Hyperdrama, which was very refreshing.”

DC Studios is gearing up for a reboot under the keen eye of esteemed filmmaker James Gunn. And the word is, that the DC co-chair has big plans for the DC Universe. He has re-casted a lot of actors, completely revamping the Dceu, as fans knew it.
With this new era being launched with Superman it is only a matter of time before we get a Justice League film. The director himself teased this via his Instagram story. And if that’s the case, there’s a supervillain who wouldn’t probably be the first choice for a main antagonist and is highly underrated. But is definitely one of the deadliest across DC comics.

Eric Kripke's "The Boys" emerged as a groundbreaking and thought-provoking series in an era dominated by superheroes on big and small screens. It tore away the glossy veneer from caped crusaders, focusing on the intricate issues accompanying god-like powers. With its unapologetically dark tone and satirical storytelling, "The Boys," adapted from Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson's comic book series, dismantles traditional notions of heroism, celebrity, and power dynamics. It portrays a world where superpowers and marketing prowess collide, creating a chaotic and morally corrupted landscape.
Starring Anthony Starr, Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, and Erin Moriarty, "The Boys" garnered critical acclaim across its first three seasons. Its strong fanbase led to the approval of a fourth installment and a new spinoff named "Gen V." This fresh series introduces aspiring heroes whose powers derive knowingly from a manufactured element called Compound V.

While the Marvel Cinematic Universe was busy changing the way Hollywood studios approach their biggest franchises (and all which that implies), The CW and DC were off making TV history with the Arrowverse. Much like the House of Ideas' multimedia superhero property, the Arrowverse was all over the place in terms of its quality and success. Certain killjoys would tell you its flagship series went on for way too long, while others would blame its limited resources and financing for preventing it from truly doing justice to the epic comic book arcs it adapted.
Overall, though, the Arrowverse was a daring experiment in the best way. That's why we're hitting the pause button and reflecting on its legacy before DC Studios head honchos James Gunn and Peter Safran usher in their shiny-new unified vision for all things DC-related.

The CW can never hold Kitty! How’s that for a deep cut? Don’t worry, Powerpuff Girl fans. I’ve got your back. Some unfortunate news is coming out of Townsville today. The CW is no longer developing several live-action series, including The Powerpuff Girls, the Archie series Jake Chang, the Arrowverse show Justice U, and a female-led Zorro. The same fate goes for all series left over from former CW president Mark Pedowitz’s tenure.

When “Summer of Soul” sold for $15 million out of the 2021 pandemic-virtual Sundance Film Festival, we saw the peak of the documentary boom. Questlove’s feature debut was a Sundance record, but it wasn’t alone; other Sundance docs like “Fire of Love” and “Flee” sold for high-seven figures.

This article contains spoilers for "The Mandalorian." Count Dooku doesn't get nearly enough credit as a "Star Wars" villain. He got sadly sandwiched between Darth Maul — with his striking visuals, his cool Af double-bladed lightsaber, and his menacing name — Grievous's cool robotic aesthetic that we sadly saw way too little of, and Anakin as a bad guy. Even though he is played by arguably the best-known of all the "Star Wars" villain actors (Christopher Lee), Count Dooku is often forgotten when talking about the best villains in the franchise.
And yet, he is arguably the most fascinating and tragic. Unlike the pure evilness of Maul or the blank expressions of Vader, Dooku is more of a gentleman and a scholar. He is also the first fallen Jedi we ever meet. Before Anakin turns to the dark side, we hear of Dooku's fall from grace. He was someone held in high...

Thirty years ago, the iconic anime series Sailor Moon debuted in Japan and has taken over the world since then. Let’s take a look back on some of the most iconic moments from the beloved anime.
“On March 7th, 1992, the very first episode of Sailor Moon aired in Japan. Thirty years later, Naoko Takeuchi’s creation is still one of the most impactful series in pop culture—not just in Japan, but all around the world. While the Champion of Love and Justice wouldn’t arrive in the U.S. until 1995, the anime holds a special place in my heart as being one of the first series I’d seen where the heroes were all girls.”

A new Justin Bieber concert documentary film is coming to Amazon Prime Video next month, taking fans behind the scenes of Bieber’s first live performance in three years.
“Justin Bieber: Our World” will debut via Amazon Studios on October 8, and the film follows the pop star as he prepares for his “T-Mobile Presents New Year’s Eve Live With Justin Bieber.” The show, which ushered in 2021, was his first concert in three years and took place during the pandemic, with Bieber performing for 240 guests as well as streaming the concert globally via livestream.
The film follows Bieber and his team in the month leading up to the show as they rehearse and construct a monumental stage while adhering to strict health and safety protocols. The film also captures personal, self-shot moments between Bieber and his wife Hailey.

“Deep Dive” is a in-depth podcast and video essay series with the stars, creators and crafts team behind an exceptional piece of filmmaking. For this edition, the IndieWire Crafts team partnered with HBO to take a closer look at the limited series “Watchmen,” and interviewed creator Damon Lindelof, and 10 members of his creative team to go behind the scenes of Episode 6, “This Extraordinary Being.”
“What is Hooded Justice’s origin story?” It was the question showrunner Damon Lindelof asked his “Watchmen” writers room early on in their reinvention of Alan Moore’s groundbreaking graphic novel. The answer to this question would become the basis of Episode 6 of “Watchmen,” “This Extraordinary Being,” one of the most formally bold 60 minutes of television ever made.
“For an episode like this to work,” Lindelof told IndieWire, “you need so many brilliant minds coming together and at any one time different people are taking the reins and steering the carriage.

A bright, neon-lit corner of the ‘80s was occupied by a popular TV show centered on an all-female wrestling league. They were the Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling -- or, simply, Glow. Founded in 1986, Glow ran for four seasons on TV, bringing colorful characters -- Corporal Kelly, Dallas and Tina Ferrari among them -- to living rooms across the country. Exploring the brightness of the dark children’s show.
Execrable is a word which here means “extremely bad or unpleasant.” It is a word which, although appropriately dour in tone, does not actually describe Netflix’s A Series of Unfortunate Events, which is actually an exceptional, thrilling adaptation of a series of thirteen children’s mystery books by Daniel Handler. The show’s freshman season covers the first four books of the series, and follows the unhappy lives of three recent orphans as they bounce from caretaker to caretaker, outwit nefarious plots to steal their parents’ fortune, and uncover countless secrets along the way. Its clunky title and avoidance of easy categorization (it’s billed as a very dark children’s show) may be turn-offs for the uninitiated, but, for many reasons, A Series of Unfortunate Events is actually a bright spot of television that shouldn’t be missed.

(This is the first in an occasional series in which I remember some of the best double features I’ve been lucky enough to see projected in a theater.)
The New Beverly Cinema, the oldest surviving revival theater in Los Angeles, has this week dished up a time-capsule glimpse into America’s popular obsession with Cb, or citizen’s band, radio and the largely mythological outlaw trucker culture through which it crackled. If you’re of a certain age (mine), and you ever cruised around town or down the highway jabbering to friends and strangers on an open channel frequency (I did—my handle was The Godfather!), given the opportunity I don’t see how you could possibly resist the chance to see the ultimate trucker-cb action-comedy pairing, Hal Needham’s Smokey and the Bandit and Sam Peckinpah’s Convoy. Adi Shankar, the producer behind the 'Bootleg Universe' one-shot films Power/Rangers & The Punisher: Dirty Laundry and 2012's Dredd will make his directorial debut with HBO's Gods And Secrets. According to Deadline, Shankar will team up with Stewart Yost to co-direct this dark superhero drama that's said to be inspired by Alan Moore's seminal graphic novel, Watchmen. The drama will feature an original team named 'Guardians Of Justice', and explore the more secretive and shady aspects of celebrity culture by applying it to superheroes. The series is set to star WWE's Diamond Dallas Page, Jackson Rathbone (The Twilight Saga), Kellan Lutz (The Legend Of Hercules), Sharni Vinson (You're Next) and Andy Milonakis. The core premise appears intruiging, while the project's placement on HBO should be enough to pique most people's interest. The cast is admittedly rather uninspiring, but Shankar has impressed in the past with his Bootleg one-shots.

It seems like just yesterday Chris D'Amico and David "Dave" Lizewski were duking it out in 2010's "Kick-Ass," clad in pastel spandex and armed with vicious, vicious words.
Three years later, round two is right in audiences' reach. Yes, "Kick-Ass 2" is prepared to kick some major box office ass when it hits theaters Aug. 16. Dave (Aaron Taylor-Johnson), Chris (Christopher Mintz-Plasse) and Mindy Macready/Hit Girl (Chloë Grace Moretz) all return in the sequel, which is sure to provide eager fans with the same cuckoo bananas action and laughs as its predecessor. Dave, with freshly sharpened skills à la Hit-Girl, has joined the crime-fighting troupe known as Justice Forever. Meanwhile, Chris has his own villainous gang known as The Toxic Mega C**ts. What a visual!
However, MTV couldn't wait until August. The cast of "Kick-Ass 2" let MTV News explore the set in October, and the findings were pretty.
