Awesome, but see the uncut version
kakyoin13212 July 2005
Classic Spencer & Hill, in their first movie together not set in the west. Has all of the Spencer & Hill trademarks: non-cheesy good sentiments with cynical characters turning into heroes in the end, fist fights, totally evil bad guys. Great De Angelis brothers (Oliver Onions) soundtrack, fitting perfectly in the mood of the movie as usual. If you love the pair's other movies, go for it, and if you've never seen one this is a great start. Try to find the uncut version (120 minutes, but it's virtually impossible to find) or at least a version with a runtime of more than 90 minutes. Other versions (like the one in the Italian DVD) are a mess.

Spencer/Hill as Bush Pilots
SMK-416 December 1998
As a teenager, I loved the Spencer/Hill films and this was one of my favorites. When I watched it again a few years ago I was a bit anxious that I might spoil my childhood memories by too clearly seeing its flaws now. I shouldn't have worried: although there are a few flaws (especially the overuse of fist fights and a quarter-hearted attempt at romance) it remains very entertaining. And you won't be able to get the catchy theme song out of your head.

Our two heroes are push pilots of the lowest caliber somewhere in South America. The opening scene in which Bud Spencer flies one of these jokes with wings in bad weather conditions is a classic. First you think it is one of those 'hero overcomes impossible odds' kinds of scenes, and then it turns out not to be, and then, perhaps, it was such a scene after all, in a way. You see: I'm struggling to explain it without giving anything away, suffice it to say that it's clever and funny.

The bad guys are mostly a bit lifeless, with the exception of Reinhard Kolldehoff who makes an excellent sleazy bastard, similar to the kinds Eduardo Fajardo uses to play.

Watch the longer cut
c-glive12 August 2021
On my first viewing, I sought out an HD version of the film, it had a run time of 90 mins, it was a great film from the duo of Bud Spencer and Terence Hill except when the final act began, there were obvious and horrible cuts to the movie, I couldn't even tell what was happening anymore. I will seek out the longer version. Great film, but the last act on the short version makes no sense, why would they even release this cut version?

Not a strong movie, but individual moments manage to save it for the most part
Horst_In_Translation24 December 2020
Warning: Spoilers
"...Più forte ragazzi!" or "All the Way Boys" or "Plane Crazy" or "Zwei Himmelhunde auf dem Weg zur Hölle" is an Italian Italian-language movie from 1972, so really not too long anymore until this one has ist 50th anniversary already. Le's hope Hill can live to this day. But I will talk a little later about the cast. As you can see, there are many different titles here and the only one from those I mentioned that does not have a connection with flying is the Italian one. The original. The second English titles sounds like a Three Stooges film to be honest with the play on words. In any case, I like the German title, even if admittedly it does sound a bit melodramatic. As many titles as there may be, there are probably almost as many different versions. The original seems to run for two hours. The German version I watched today probably ran for 105 minutes or so and there is even a shorter version for the English-language market and as Spencer and Hill never truly managed a breakthrough there, they probably kept it at exactly 1.5 hours. I myself cannot get enough of the duo though. The director here was Giuseppe Colizzi and he is one the writers as well. He only lived for another roughly five years after the release of this film here, so hos career was definitely cut short, especially because he was not a prolific filmmaker at all before that and seemed to finally become more prolific before death came in the way. Pity. Then again, this film here is nothing truly special, also in terms of the screenplay. One thing i myself find worth mentioning is that one of the writers here is female and that is definitely unusual for a Bud Spencer and/or Terence Hill film. You see I mention those two a lot already. This shows you that they are truly famous here in my country Germany. The evidence is in the awards section. This one also managed to get enough people into theaters back then for a Golden Screen win, a merit really only based on numbers, but at the same time one that not a gigantic amount of films have achieved. Spencer could actually be a record holder there. That is how much people here in Germany loved him back then. Probably still do. So yes, the stars here are the two in the lead. Without a doubt. Both are Italians by the way, even if their names don't sound this way. It's not their real names obviously. Girotti and Pedersoli sounds a lot more Italian, doesn't it. Hill is credited first and I think that, especially internationally, he was still the bigger star from the two with his western past. And I cannot say he does not deserve. About the rest of the cast, there is not too much to say. Kolldehoff is credited third and he is German. Fittingly with the duo's popularity here in Germany. But he is only this high because he plays the main antagonist. He has almost no screen time at all in here. Probably, third credit should have been Cyril Cusack. He is in this a lot more, but his role is less significant. By the way, he is not related to John Cusack I believe, but close to Jeremy Irons, even if not blood-related either. Then again, the cast list looks a bit shabby for a film with thousands of ratings. They can do better on that. I mean here on imdb, in terms of how it is far from complete. Oh and before I dig a bit deeper into the movie, let me say that it was not uncommon for Spencer to play pilot characters at all. Kinda fitting because the man himself also enjoyed flying a lot and had a valid licence. If he would have survived in the storm we see here, is a bit questionable though.

That scene honestly was a bit melodramatic with the injured boy in there too and the bottle of alcohol and also the guy he was talking to on the other end of the line who said that Spencer will never get down alive. Of course he would. This film tried to be a tad too dramatic for its own good at times I would say. I mean it was not terrible, but also with the scene that has the old man dying at the very end, I am not sure if I liked it thought it was too much / too absurd. It was kinda touching though. Not gonna deny that. Or when near the end Spencer's character is worried Hill's character could be dead. There you could still see how close they were despite constantly arguing and being annoyed. Seems they cannot cope with or without each other. By the way, early in the film we have a scene when it was exactly the other way around with Hill's character worrying. But the one near the end, after being so dramatic, immediately took a turn towards comedy again with Hill's character attacking Spencer's and the two keep fighting for hours afterwards it seems. It's been a while since I saw Spencer taking this much of a beating here and there from somebody else. Then again, if there is anybody (almost) on his level in terms of fighting, then it's Hill's character and also not in many movies. It was these smaller moments and inclusions that made it still an alright watch here and there. My highlight was maybe the fight sequence in that house where a friend outside just pushes in more victims, more antagonists that the two heros take care of inside. When two crashed out through the wall or window or something, it was pretty hilarious. Or also how Spencer plays a character so strong there that he eventually destroys the entire house. Or not just the physical moments, but also the talking here and there. For example when we see the antagonist's bodyguard or something and we have a weaker character being really scared of that hunk, Spencer's character just says something like that the guy looks like a seal probably if he takes off his shades. This pilot (I think that's what the hunk actually was) does not play a major role in the movie anymore. You will find some elements that are almost present always in Spencer/Hill movies, like how Hill's character has a soft spot for women and here even for a little Black girl. So the film was indeed progressive during an era where racial discrimination was indeed a major issue. And as for Spencer, it may be true that he has a tendency to play gruff character in all his films that still have soft hearts, but it's just his niche. It's cool. He's alright. I like him. Here, he even says something like that one on occasion when he apologizes to another character for being in a bad mood earlier. He blames hunger. I believed him. As for this elderly character, I don't remember exactly, but I think he had an unpleasand encounter with the bad guys earlier, so our two heroes must fight back. Not the only time either that something like this happens and this is where the two always bond. By the way, animals are also not an exception in Spencer movies. Here we have a really cute dog. A parrot. Maybe more that I forgot. Oh and this is one of the films that is not only about fighting with one's fists. Guns are pulled, even if they keep it light by joking about those firearms not being loaded. Or are they? Or they just throw the gun out of the window. There is also a knife fight on one occasion that one does not expect to see in Spencer/Hill films really. But it was not bad. Just unexpected. And later on, there is even a guy who tries to shoot Hill's character when they fight. I guess this is pretty much all I have to say about this movie. The story is really nothing special, sometimes pretty weak, but the lines writing was good enough for me to give this film a positive recommendation. Then again, I love Spencer and like Hill, so I am certainly biased here. With other lead actors, I probably would not have been this generous and I will not even deny that this movie may not be the very best choice to watch if you want to dig into the universe of Spencer/Hill movies and have not seen anything else yet. But it's a good pick for being number 10 on the list or so. Thumbs up. Go see it.

Hill & Spencer! What else could you ask for?
AriSquad24 February 2004
I love these guys! Most their movies I saw as a child but even seeing them now I still consider them my all-time favorites & I can still watch them over & over & over without getting the least bit tired of them. "All The Way Boys" takes them away from the ole west but still carries the same great clean & fun humor these guys are known for. You will see LOTS of actors from previous/future Hill/Spencer films in this one. Lots of fun to watch & even the actors looked like they had a lot of fun filming it. I hope one day someone will have their full catalog of films released on DVD. Perhaps a box set?? Great movie with a very catchy soundtrack. If you can find a copy, sit back & enjoy.

Terence Hill and Bud Spencer as adventurer pilots in South America
ma-cortes21 April 2011
Likable Terence Hill and stocky Bud Spencer team up again as the valiant duo . The agreeable crew makes a new adventure movie plenty of fist-play , action and entertainment . This amusing film deal with ours intimate friends in South America , they're nowadays two pilots , the blue-eyes and sympathetic Terence Hill as Plata and a grumpy and goofy Bud Spencer as Salud ; as they are hired for crashing a plane for insurance money . They wind up ditching for real in the jungles of Amazon . The argument involves "Mr. Big", Reinhard Kolldehoff , who is buying the precious stones from the miners for much too little, and has nasties who keep the price down. Of course, they will combat thieves ,thugs and criminals .

The 'big time' duo of Spaghetti Western with humor such as ¨They call me Trinity¨, ¨ Trinity is still my name ¨ and sequels as ¨Troublemakers¨ were run out and for that reason are transfered in modern era film , playing the police/action genre and adventures as ¨All the way boys¨ also titled ¨Plane crazy¨ . After that , they starred the successful ¨ Miami police series ¨, which belong the following : ¨Crime Busters¨ , ¨Superfuzz¨ and ¨supercops in Miami¨. The movie contains silly comedy , the usual slight fights and a little bit action including some car pursuits when Bud Spencer robs a police vehicle and is pursued by others .The humor is based on physical and personality differences of the starring , as Terence Hill is the sympathetic and brave hero and Bud Spencer is the corpulent and hunk man. As always several humorous struggles with no blood , neither violence . Enjoyable performance of Cryl Cusack , a veteran British with a long and prestigious career ; furthermore Riccardo Pizzuti ,habitual secondary in Hill-Spencer films . Mediocre cinematography and commercial musical score by the usual Guido and Maurizio De Angelis , including catching songs .

The motion picture is regularly directed by Giuseppe Colizzi . Giuseppe directed a trilogy starred by Hill and Spencer as Cat Stevens and Hutch Bessy respectively. The first and superior and the best outing was ¨Dio Perdona..¨; the second installment is ¨Four gunmen of Ave Maria or Ace high ¨ with the great Elli Wallach and more camp tendencies ; and the third is ¨Boot Hill¨ with Woody Strode . Colizzi subsequently realized another buddy movie ¨Joe and Margherito¨ with Keith Carradine and Tom Skerrit until his early death at fifty years old . The flick will appeal to famous pair fans.

This movie took flight, and crash and burn. It was horrible!
ironhorse_iv29 January 2015
Warning: Spoilers
If you like this movie, you're just plane crazy! All the Way, Boys AKA Plane Crazy is a really chop up, badly done movie. Following their success, in 1970 spaghetti western, 'They Call Me Trinity', comedian actors, Terence Hill and Bud Spencer would pair up in over a dozen other films, using the formula of brawls and jokes established in that film. All the Way, Boys is the first film by Bud Spencer & Terence Hill that had both, play off, each other, that wasn't in the Wild West environment. Directed by Giuseppe Colizzi, the movie follows the story of Salud (Bud Spencer) and Plata (Terence Hill) as they eke out a living as bush pilots in South America. The plot is very confusing; at first, you think it's about them, faking plane crashes in order to collect the insurance money in a humorous heist movie, matter. Then the movie seem like a survivor tale, as one of the plane really crashes for real in the middle of the jungle, forcing them to survive. But no! After a month of wandering around, play out in a two minutes of film, in very insulting way, they find a diamond mining community operated by Mr. Ears (Reinhard Kolldehoff) with Plata and Salud decide to make a living by competing against him, by making delivery services by airplane. Then, maybe this is a funny 'rags to riches' type of a film. Sadly, none of these film genres really can describe this film. There is no main plot, as the movie doesn't give a clear answer to that. The movie plot, just jump around and around, as if they started filming without a script. The movie almost feels like a waste of time. Lots of pointless filler scenes with none of them, really connecting. It's really annoying. Don't get me wrong, it's very entertaining at times, just frustrating. The movie has a lot of cool tense scenes like billiards game, or the close call when their airplane nearly collision with another passenger plane, but I really wanted a clear cut story. I'm very serious, this movie really has no clue, what it wanted to be. It mixed, everything into one film, very awkwardly. The movie gives a very serious sad melodrama story about an old miner, Swarming Matto (Cyril Cusack) who then tells his tragic story to Salud, only to have Salud fall asleep during it. Is this supposed to funny or are we supposed to feel bad for this old guy? I having a hard time, figuring out if I should laugh or not. I find Matto to be the heart of the film and the most interesting, so when I saw what the filmmakers did to his character, toward the end. I was deeply disappointed. There is a 'treasure hunting adventure mystery' behind the old man's story, yet the movie moves with others things before it, like getting an injury man to a hospital in a dangerous night flight or having various slapstick fights or random musical dancing numbers at a bar. The movie has a lot of gaping plot-holes that are way too noticeable, not to care. Honestly, it felt very insulting to see them, escape prison, without telling us, how. Another is, how they manage to survive in the jungle for a month, before seeing the miner's town. A lot of this movie doesn't make, any sense. The movie has a lot of fake-out semi-endings, also. You would think the movie was over, when Matto reach the main city, but no, the movie had to go on and on. Honestly, this movie goes on and on, way too much. It never ends, like ever-lasting fist fight between the two title characters, which lasts until sunset, without a clear winner. One of the worst things about this film is awkward cuts. This movie was edited, very badly. The 90 minutes runtime version of this film is nearly unwatchable. Try to find the uncut 120 minute version, but it's virtually impossible to find. Other DVD versions like the ones that I watched were just a mess. It seem like it was copy from old VCR tapes, as it has a lot of recorded tracking problems. The English dubbing sounds quite dull. Overall: This movie nearly humorless, and really out there. Only the charms of the characters, the wonderful exotic South America locations and the alright catchy soundtrack by Guido and Maurizio De Angelis save this movie from being a complete failure. I can't recommended this film. Check out, Terence Hill & Bud Spencer's 1983's 'Go for it', instead. It's a better watch, than this film.

Watch the full cut (if you can)
BodoDakile1 October 2023
Professionals who worked with Bud&Terence often pick this movie as their favourite, and for a reason. However, the most common version you will find is the heavily cut (butchered) 90-minute version, which is not the best to enjoy this movie. The full cut is rare, but the best way to enjoy a well made adventure movie, with the unique features of Bud&Terence's movies.

A bit less comedy, a bit more romanticism, a slower pace than the usual B&T's movies, but overall a fascinating work by Colizzi who returns to direct the Italian duo after launching the couple in his late '60s western trilogy.

Bud and Terence, bush pilots who participate in a friend's insurance scams, are once again "heroes by chance". There is adventure, wit, beautiful scenery and a couple of (inevitable) fist fights. Very enjoyable.

Poorly written and uninteresting.
gridoon10 July 2004
Amiable but slow-paced, uninteresting Bud Spencer & Terence Hill "comedy", whose laughs can be counted on the fingers of your hands. It plays as if the filming began before the script was even written, so a "story" was improvised on the spot. In some of the fight scenes, we don't even know who the opponents are or why Hill and Spencer are fighting them. An unreasonable amount of time is taken up by such activities as repairing an old aircraft. Only diehard fans of the duo should invenst the two hours it takes to watch this. (*1/2)
