Ned Eisenberg, a stage and screen actor who played defense attorney Roger Kressler on “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” and Detective Hauser in “Mare of Easttown,” has died. He was 65.
His agents at Nicolosi & Co. confirmed his death. Eisenberg’s wife Patricia said in a statement, “As Ned would say, he was attacked by two very rare assassins — cholangiocarcinoma and ocular melanoma. Over the course of two years, he bravely fought the cancers in private while continuing to work in show business to ensure that his medical coverage paid for himself and his family.”
Eisenberg also worked in feature films, playing Sally Mendoza in Clint Eastwood’s “Million Dollar Baby” and photographer Joe Rosenthal in “Flags of Our Fathers.”
Among his other feature roles were Oliver Stone’s “World Trade Center,” “Limitless,” “Won’t Back Down,” “Experimenter,” “Asher,” “The Exterminator,” “The Burning,” “Moving Violations,” “Air America,” “Last Man Standing,...

Sally Kellerman, who was Oscar nominated for her supporting role as Margaret “Hot Lips” Houlihan in Robert Altman’s “Mash” feature film, died Thursday in Woodland Hills, Calif. She was 84.
Her publicist Alan Eichler confirmed her death, and her daughter Claire added that she had been suffering from dementia for the past five years.
Among her other roles were a cameo in Altman’s “The Player,” a professor in Rodney Dangerfield’s “Back to School” and a Starfleet officer in the “Star Trek” episode “Where No Man Has Gone Before.”
The willowy blonde actress with the characteristically throaty voice appeared in two Altman films in 1970; the other was the more experimental “Brewster McCloud,” in which she starred with Bud Cort and Michael Murphy. In this film, which did not have a conventional narrative, Kellerman played Louise, the mother of Cort’s bewinged character, Brewster.

Fred Willard, best known for his roles in Best in Show, This Is Spinal Tap, Everybody Loves Raymond, and Modern Family, died of natural causes at the age of 86, according to Variety.
“It is with a heavy heart that I share the news my father passed away very peacefully last night at the fantastic age of 86 years old,” his daughter Hope Willard tweeted on Saturday. “He kept moving, working and making us happy until the very end. We loved him so very much! We will miss him forever.”
Willard first came into national consciousness as the sidekick to Martin Mull’s host on the nightly Fernwood 2 Night. He is well known as part of the revolving troupe of actors – including Michael McKean, Harry Shearer, Catherine O’Hara and Eugene Levy – assembled by director Christopher Guest.

Chicago – Like improvisational jazz, the performance career of Don Cheadle has many moods, directions and shadings. For his latest film, he takes on the titles of co-writer and director, along with the lead role of music legend Miles Davis. This all comes together is the aptly titled “Miles Ahead.”
Cheadle applies a different kind of music biography spin, with a centerpiece story about Davis that operates as a mythical framework for the musician’s life story, told in a loose flashback format. The cinematic structure is jazzy and kinetic, and it moves forward with an energy all of its own, driven by the frenetic soundtrack of the man himself. As a director, Cheadle has crafted something outside the norm, a visual blend that could be at home within the florid sweep of a Miles Davis composition.

A few years ago the editors of Shadowlocked asked me to compile a list of what was initially to be, the ten greatest movie matte paintings of all time. A mere ten selections was too slim by a long shot, so my list stretched considerably to twenty, then thirty and finally a nice round fifty entries. Even with that number I found it wasn’t easy to narrow down a suitably wide ranging showcase of motion picture matte art that best represented the artform. So with that in mind, and due to the surprising popularity of that 2012 Shadowlocked list (which is well worth a visit, here Ed), I’ve assembled a further fifty wonderful examples of this vast, vital and more extensively utilised than you’d imagine – though now sadly ‘dead and buried’ – movie magic.
It would of course be so easy to simply concentrate on the well known, iconic,...

He's gearing up for the third season premiere of "House of Lies" and during promotions, Don Cheadle scored the cover spot of Emmy magazine.
During his sit down with the publication, the "Iron Man" star shared details about his Showtime series and chatted about his saxophone skills.
Highlights from Mr. Cheadle are as follows. For more, be sure to pay a visit to Emmy magazine!
On his character in "House of Lies":
"We'll get people looking at the show [for the first time] going, 'It's great. I didn't know about it. I hear very few people who go, 'I hate it.' This year is really about Marty dealing with the wreckage of his past behavior and trying to repair relationships, both professional and personal, especially with Jeannie. He's trying to somehow put his world back together. It always takes me a minute to kind of find him again. He's not at ease with himself.

I found another Furry on Fox Movie Channel!
The Movie: Moving Violations
The Furry: A Duck (extra special bonus points for it not even being a mammal)
The Situation: The duck is getting arrested! And I don't know why! All I know is, this is Furry situational gold. To top things off, the duck is getting pulled out of a paddy wagon that appears to be loaded with other handcuffed Furries. You can see a leopard or something in the background of this picture.
Moving Violations is about a madcap group of traffic violators and the uptight cops who make their lives miserable. It's from 1985, so I figured I would watch it, thinking there might be a high likelihood of my being amused. But then I wound up getting distracted by work, and not fully watching it. Not that it requires a great deal of attention. The bad drivers want their driving privileges restored,...

By now you've probably heard -- Maude-Golden Girl Bea Arthur passed away over the weekend at the age of 86. In honor of the great actress and comedian, EW called up old co-star Rue McClanahan for her thoughts. During the discussion, she said: "And she [Arthur] told some pretty raunchy jokes, live on stage. In fact, a couple that were just a bit too much for me! [Laughs.] But boy she could tell a dirty joke. Oh my God, she was funny!"
This is what makes her passing right now all the more unfortunate -- one of the greats has left us just as the dirtiness of the silver set, particularly the Golden Girls themselves, dips into a Renaissance already mourning the loss of Estelle Getty. Lenora Claire recently brought us the wonder of Golden Gals Gone Wild. Meanwhile, Betty White jumped from her woman-without-morals role on Boston Legal to the dirty...
