The very best - never miss an episode

China Beach is simply a wonderful and true to fact as told to me by relatives that were there. All of you have done a really great job. I never miss a single episode. It really makes a person do a lot of thinking about such a "war" and all of the consiquences. My brother in law came back an alcoholic and I can surely understand why.

Excellent drama about the Vietnam war. Respectful treatment of Vets.

China Beach is my all-time favorite TV drama. The series combined the drama and adventure of war time with a tender respect for the men and women who served in Vietnam. I am especially appreciate of the respect shown to the soldiers.

excellent series

For those of us who spent our teenage years during the time of the Viet Nam war, this show is particularly poignant. It reminds me of so many confusing feelings I had during that time. And it reinforces my hatred of our current "war". China Beach was a show I would love to view again and again. The acting was excellent as was the script. I would recommend this to anyone who was in their teens during the 60's. And there is a huge crowd of us just waiting for this to be released on DVD. The characters were so real, some scary, some incredibly fun. There were comic moments and very serious, sad moments. I feel it described the times very well. I still miss this show! American Dreams was another show that brought back many memories of that time and my teenage years.

Amazing TV--China Beach
hmlnkfam10 November 2005
China Beach was one of those rare television series that brilliantly carried the viewer on a wave of emotions from start to finish. My husband is a Viet Nam war vet and because of this television program I understood him much better and why he did and said some of the things he did when he came home.

The series was unique in that it told about the war, not from the soldiers point of view, but from the nurses. Though there are male characters that are integral to the series, it is the relationship between the nurses, the "doughnut dollies", and the resident "I'll do anything for money" call girl that develops into one of mutual respect that is so brilliantly and subtly done.

There are scenes that are unforgettable in almost every show. In fact there are far too many to even try to recount them here... but if you want to see truly amazing television the premiere episode is well worth purchasing and watching... The only risk is that it will leave you wanting to see more and unfortunately this is the only episode that has been recorded and offered for sale... Be prepared to laugh, cry, be haunted by the horrors of war, and encouraged by the resiliency of people in the most adverse and perverse of situations--war.

China Beach DVD
kcook8-120 November 2007
I wish the producers would issue the entire series on DVDs. I would pay dearly to buy all the episodes. In my opinion, this was one of the best shows on TV ever. I ran a search for China Beach and found some sites which said they were selling DVDs for all China Beach seasons. However, Amazon, which is reputable, says that China Beach is not yet available on DVD. Does anyone know when the producers may release the series on DVD?

This was probably the best thing ever done about the Viet Nam war, which was told from the participants viewpoint.

If anyone has any suggestions as to how we could urge the producers to issue DVDs on the series, I would appreciate knowing how to reach them.
