New Mexico, 2007: Tera Chavez, a police officer's wife, is found shot dead in the mouth of an apparent suicide. Her husband Levi is suspected soon after because of suspicious circumstantial evidence, but there is no confession, eyewitness or 'smoking gun' forensic evidence. Complicating matters is the fact that they both had affairs and the possibility of police corruption.

He was convicted and sentenced at age 60. He received a 3-year, 5-month prison sentence after he entered an Alford guilty plea to the first-degree manslaughter of Sandi Rae Johnson. Sandi's family members did not believe that she received the proper justice with the short prison term.
