Summer hasn’t even started yet, but we’ve already got Christmas on our minds!
Hallmark announced today that two of the network’s most beloved stars have wrapped filming on an upcoming holiday movie for 2024.
It’s hard to believe that Lacey Chabert and Kristoffer Polaha have not worked together before, but we’re about to see them in action.
That’s a very literal description of their upcoming movies, and we could not be more excited.
If you are a fan of Hallmark Christmas, you know that these two stars brought forth the very best for the 2023 season.
Chabert had not one but two Christmas movies in 2023.
She starred in a sequel to Haul Out the Holly called Haul Out the Holly: Lit Up, which brought more hijinks to a suburban neighborhood devoted to decorating for Christmas.
She also starred in A Merry Scottish Christmas, which was one...

The 10 Things I Hate About You cast probably didn’t know it then, but the actors in the 1999 teen rom-com would get their breakout role. In the 25 years since its release, 10 Things I Hate About You has become a cult classic and a career highlight for its actors.
On the surface, 10 Things I Hate About You doesn’t sound like a recipe for success. A William Shakespeare play reworked into a teen comedy featuring a cast of mostly unknown actors? Critics didn’t fall head over heels for it in 1999, but the movie’s appeal has grown over time and attracted new generations of fans (even if sequel plans failed). And if the 10 Things I Hate About You cast was unknown then, now there is no mistaking the talent of stars like Julia Stiles, Heath Ledger, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

Pamela Salem, who portrayed Miss Moneypenny in the non-Eon James Bond movie Never Say Never Again, has passed away at the age of 80.
While Pamela Salem’s turn as Moneypenny was a one-off – and in a film that is widely not considered part of the 007 canon – her go at the beloved character can’t be ignored. Interestingly, despite how frequently the character appears in the Bond universe, she has only been played by a small selection of actresses: Lois Maxwell, Caroline Bliss, Samantha Bond, and Naomie Harris. But only Salem has the distinction of playing Miss Moneypenny just one time.
But not once was there any strange bad blood between Pamela Salem or her predecessors, particularly Maxwell. As per a 1984 interview (via The Hollywood Reporter), Salem said, “I had seen Moneypenny before, of course, in the earlier films played by Lois Maxwell…At first [the media] tried to stir things up between...

Pamela Salem, who portrayed Miss Moneypenny in Never Say Never Again opposite Sean Connery in his final turn as James Bond, has died. She was 80.
Salem died Wednesday in Surfside, Florida, according to Big Finish Productions, for whom she participated in several audio productions.

On the “Pod Meets World” podcast, co-hosts Danielle Fishel, Rider Strong and Will Friedle have often given their guests — many of whom are actors who grew up on TV in the 90s — the opportunity to debunk any headlines about them.
During the Feb. 12 episode, Andrew Keegan was ready to do just that.
“You mean when I woke up one day and I was anointed a cult leader?” he asked with a laugh during the iHeart podcast. Keegan, best known for his roles in “10 Things I Hate About You,” “7th Heaven,” “Party of Five” and for being a “heartthrob” in the early aughts, went on to explain that he moved to Venice Beach in his early 20s, and “got immersed in the culture and the community.”

For a working actor, there is nothing quite like getting a recurring role on a long-running network TV show. While the days of a show running for 100 episodes or more are quickly dying out in the age of streaming, for a long time, such shows were golden tickets for actors as they could provide steady work (and a steady check) for years well beyond the show's initial run. Such was the case with "Bones," the beloved Fox procedural crime dramedy, which ran for 12 seasons. Among those who became mainstays on the series was Tamara Taylor, who made her debut as Camille "Cam" Saroyan, the then-new head of the Jeffersonian Institute's Forensic Division, in the second season. Originally, however, Taylor was only going to be a guest star.
Having also appeared on shows like "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." and "Party of Five," Taylor would ultimately star in 223 episodes of "Bones." The reason...

Teenager Meg Griffin isn’t only an afterthought to her family (cartoon dad Peter regularly forgets about her existence even when she’s standing right next to him), the character also didn’t appear in the 1995 student film from which Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane developed his hit animated comedy.
MacFarlane made animated short ‘The Life of Larry’ while studying at the Rhode Island School of Design in the 1990s. It featured “loveable but tactless lower middle class” dad Larry, his supportive wife Lois, their heavy-set blonde, baseball-cap-wearing son Milt, and “incisive, cynical” talking dog named Steve, plus all the cutaway gags and pop culture parodies for which Family Guy would become famous… but no super-intelligent baby, and no butt-of-every-joke teenage daughter Meg.

The “Scream” franchise is in trouble. Between the firing of reboot star Melissa Barrera over her pro-Palestine social media posts in November, the subsequent departure of co-star Jenna Ortega, and the lack of a director now that Christopher Landon has left the building, the future for the seventh entry in the scream queen all-timer isn’t looking great. The original “Scream” star Neve Campbell did not appear in the sixth movie from Spyglass and Paramount, which opened and closed in spring 2023 to a $168 million total box office, due to pay disputes. Campbell did appear in 2022’s fifth “Scream” film, reprising her role as final girl Sidney Prescott.

Neve Campbell announced in June 2022 that she was leaving the “Scream” franchise because she didn’t feel she was being properly compensated to reprise her role of Sidney Prescott in the sixth movie.
Even so, she could see herself coming back some day “under the right circumstances,” Campbell told me Saturday at the BAFTA Tea event at the Maybourne hotel in Beverly Hills.
That said, it’s unclear what is happening with the franchise at the moment after director Christopher Landon dropped out of the seventh film. Landon’s exit came shortly after star Jenna Ortega announced she was not return due to scheduling conflicts with her “Wednesday” production calendar and co-star Melissa Barrera was fired over social media posts about the Israel-Palestine conflict. Both actors starred in the fifth and sixth “Scream” films.

She continued, “I was getting my hair done and I had not a stitch of makeup on, so, I threw on a filter. I really gave it no thought.”
“A bunch of people were like, ‘Jennifer Love Hewitt is unrecognizable.’ ‘She’s unrecognizable, so she’s...

Jennifer Love Hewitt has her hands full these days as dispatch queen Maddie Buckley on ABC’s 9-1-1, but if the opportunity for a return trip to Grandview were to present itself, she’d be on a plane Asap.
Hewitt is the latest guest on Michael Rosenbaum’s Inside of You podcast, during which the host asks if she’d be interested in rebooting Party of Five (which already happened on Freeform a few years ago, but let’s not tell him).

The holidays are all about bringing families together, and Hallmark Channel’s A Merry Scottish Christmas is doing that in a big way by reuniting former Party of Five siblings Scott Wolf and Lacey Chabert for their first on-screen project in 23 years.

Television fans of a certain age should be giving the Hallmark Channel a special thanks as they are reuniting two of the stars of one of the most popular family dramas of the late-1990s, “Party of Five,” it just so happens that both said stars happen to be regulars in the Hallmark movie rotation. In “A Merry Scottish Christmas” — as they did on “Party of Five” — Scott Wolf and Lacey Chabert play brother and sister, but unlike as the Bailey and Claudia Salinger, these siblings do not have the best of relationships. However, when they travel to Scotland to visit their mother for Christmas, a major secret is revealed that just might repair their fractured relationship. The movie premieres on the Hallmark Channel on Saturday, Nov. 18 at 8 p.m. Et. You can watch A Merry Scottish Christmas and Hallmark Channel with a 7-Day Free Trial of Philo. Hallmark mainstay Lacey Chabert reunites with her Party of Five co-star Scott Wolf Nov. 18 in the channel’s A Very Scottish Christmas, a confection about a pair of once close siblings who reunite at their mom’s girlhood home in Scotland for the holiday.
Here, Chabert talks about working again with Wolf — who played her older brother Bailey in the Fox drama that ran from 1994 to 2000 — in her 38th (!!!) Hallmark movie, as well as what it meant to reunite with Lindsay Lohan and Amanda Seyfried in those excellent Walmart holiday commercials.

Hallmark is known for its romantic and holiday (and romantic holiday) movies. However, when the channel announced that Scott Wolf and Lacey Chabert, who played orphaned Salinger siblings Bailey and Claudia on critically acclaimed series Party of Five, were announced as co-stars in the upcoming film A Merry Scottish Christmas, inquiring minds wanted to know what their on-screen relationship would be! Fear not. Just as they did on the long-running Fox drama, Wolf and Chabert are playing siblings. (Whew!) TV Insider caught up with Wolf at the “Hallmark Channel’s Countdown to Christmas Holiday Celebration” at the Grove in Los Angeles this week to chat about the film, working with Chabert again, his time as Nancy Drew’s dad, and The Nine, an ABC drama that may have been ahead of its time. Your movie is called A Merry Scottish Christmas but it really, really needs to be in the...

R.E.M.’s 11th studio album, Up, informally flagged the start of the third and final phase of the band’s career, following both their early I.R.S. years and their mainstream peak in the 1990s. Drummer Bill Berry departed the band after suffering a brain aneurysm while on tour in 1995, but the remaining members opted not to replace him, instead employing electronic drum programming throughout the majority of the album. And the timing, it seemed, was serendipitous, as the electronica movement was reaching its apotheosis.
Up subsequently marked the end of R.E.M.’s decade-long relationship with rock producer Scott Litt, replaced by Ray of Light knob-twirler Pat McCarthy and mixer Nigel Godrich, who produced Ok Computer. And yet, the album doesn’t immerse itself as vigorously in the genre as those two watershed releases. Sonically, tracks like the Eno-esque opener “Airportman” and the gently percolating “Suspicion...

There were few bands on the planet bigger than R.E.M. in the mid-Nineties. Their popularity grew every year in the Eighties before they went supernova the following decade thanks to hits like “Losing My Religion,” “Man on the Moon,” “Everybody Hurts,” and “What’s the Frequency, Kenneth?” Warner Bros. was so desperate to keep them on the label in 1996 that it gave them $80 million for their next five albums, breaking all industry records up to that point.

What a gift! Party of Five alums Scott Wolf and Lacey Chabert reunite in this emotional gem shot in Braveheart country (and parts of Ireland). “They are the nicest folks I’ve ever met,” raves executive producer Andrew Gernhard of his stars, who play estranged siblings, Brad and Lindsay Morgan, trying to make nice after their mom (Fiona Bell) invites them to spend the holidays at a Scottish castle. (Credit: Martin Maguire/Hallmark Media) Before their bags are even unpacked, a major secret is revealed, and the spirit of the season has the Morgans hashing things out as they take in the sights (and sips!) of Scotland. Gernhard notes that this one’s a tad different from most Hallmark movies in that “it was more about a brother and sister getting back together,” rather than one of them finding love. But that’s in there too. “It’s Christmas,” he adds with a laugh.

A lot can happen in 146 days. When the Writers Guild strike started in May, Drew Barrymore was one of its early folk heroes, when she stepped down as host of the MTV Movie & TV Awards in solidarity. But four months later, Barrymore became one of the strike’s most reviled public figures when she tried to rationalize the decision to bring back her daytime talk show in the midst of a work stoppage. There were many winners and losers to come out of this hot labor summer, and it’s not over yet, as SAG-AFTRA looks to seal its own deal with the AMPTP. But as the WGA prepares to vote on its hard-fought new contract, here are some of the entities that made it to the other side on the rise — or a bit imperiled.

R.E.M. are celebrating the 25th anniversary of their 11th studio album Up with a new remastered reissue, set for release on November 10th via Craft Recordings. It features a collection of bonus material including, but not limited to, an 11-song performance recorded at…the Party of Five set.
Party of Five was a pretty depressing late-1990s drama series that starred a Scream-era Neve Campbell, a pre-Lost Matthew Fox, and teen-superstar-in-the-making Jennifer Love Hewitt. It also gave R.E.M. their first appearance on a scripted TV show, which they filmed in 1999 at Los Angeles’ Palace Theatre in front of 175 fan club members. Their single at the time, the Up track “At My Most Beautiful,” was the one that made it into the Party of Five episode — but the members figured they’d use the studio to rehearse for their tour while they were at it.

The fall TV schedule may be lacking a bit of new content, but the holiday season will be filled with new TV movies. Hallmark Channel, Lifetime, Great American Family and more were able to fully complete their slate of holiday movies before the WGA and SAG strikes, Variety confirms.
The Writers Guild of America strike began on May 2, impacting both TV and film productions, while SAG-AFTRA has been on strike since July 14. However, some of the holiday films set for the 2023 season began production in January.
“Christmas is a year-round business at Hallmark, so we were able to mitigate early in the year understanding that the strikes were unfortunately imminent,” says Lisa Hamilton Daly, EVP of programming at Hallmark Media. “We’re grateful to meet all our goals for a full, all-new holiday slate and to bring our viewers the content they love most to celebrate the season.”

Neve Campbell catapulted to superstardom thanks to the Scream films after starring on her hit show, Party of Five. When the series picked back up in a soft-reboot with 2022’s Scream, she would make a triumphant return. However, when it came time for Scream VI, the actress butted heads with the studio over her pay and Sidney would sit out the New York trip. Christopher Landon is gearing up for his entry in the franchise, so it will now be seen if the face of the series will be able to rejoin the fray.

As of Labor Day, September 4, 2023, Hollywood's writers and actors remain on strike against the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP). The Writers Guild of America (WGA) has been on strike since May 2 and the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) joined them on July 13.
The WGA has decried the AMPTP's latest counteroffer (made near the end of August) as insufficient, softening existential threats to writers' careers instead of solving them. Rather than good faith engagement, the AMPTP's strategies have included publicly releasing their counteroffer (in clear hopes of putting public pressure on the WGA to accept it) and retaining public relations firm the Levinson Group. That last move is probably the source of recent puff piece profiles of figures like AMPTP President Carol Lombardini and Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav.
