"Evil Obsession," an erotic thriller? More like a neurotic chiller!
D.S.6 April 1999
A chiller, not a thriller, is the best way to describe this dreary feature, about an obsessed nerd (Corey Feldman) fixated on supermodel Margo Johnson (Kimberly Stevens), while someone is murdering other supermodels.

A script without depth, "Evil Obsession" leaves many questions unanswered. For example, given the popularity of showbiz supermodels -- from coverage in top publications to television entertainment-related sources -- why would the news of these murders be so downplayed? No sign of the press. Just the sound of the radio personality's announcement and a visual showing a lead character reading a newspaper's headline.

Well, of course, this is a low-budget feature with a low aim. And it doesn't have much aim, neither. We're expected to care, but don't, about numerous subplots, such as the possibility of romance between Johnson and her hired detective (Mark Derwin) -- their flirtatious and imminent lovemaking scenes are anything but hot -- and the possibly lethal manipulations of Margo's pompous acting coach (Brion James).

And the performances in director Richard W. Munch's film run the gamut from the mentally comatose to the proverbial hambones. Perhaps seeing is believing. But why waste the time?

"Evil Obsession," for all you erotic thriller fans, plays more like a neurotic chiller.

Arguably the worst movie ever made!
backlash_natch13 March 2003
This movie is arguably the worst movie ever made. The movie's soul redeeming quality (eroticism) does not even make it worth it. It is painful to watch. The "action" in the film is poorly edited yielding in some of the most unrealistic seconds of action I have ever seen. The plot is non existent and is full of gaping holes. I found myself asking questions throughout the movie. The nudity is even painful to watch. There is an entire scene showing Kimberly in the shower and it feels like an eternity. The irony is that the model (Kimberly Stevens) goes to an acting class in the movie. The acting was poor and the writing didn't help. My fast forward button got a work out on this one. Seeing the credits roll was the sweetest relief I think I have felt in my life.

Who's the killer?
Forget it I'm not saying . Somebody's slicing up models and there are plenty of suspects .made in '96 no over the top violence here . Inept police work for sure..nice music and acting was good you'll want to know who is the killer.

This one's not as bad as some...

Warning: Spoilers
This one's not as bad as some, but still that's in the eye of the beholder. Of course, what I really love about this movie are the extremely sexy bondage scenes (this was obviously a film done by fetishists for fetishists), but it had other redeeming qualities. (Note that the aforementioned scenes could have been done much better, but most "mainstream" movies usually don't get this good with them, so I dig those scenes!) One of the other redeeming points was, believe it or not, Corey Feldman's nerdy character. He had me rolling on the floor! Now for a SPOILER ALERT, though I do wonder who would care. Another great thing about this not-so-great movie was that Feldman's character wasn't the killer. He was just a nice, nerdy guy who was very misunderstood by society. Good for the filmmakers, not being jocks and making the nerd a killer when it's almost always someone much different in reality. I've got a little saying, which is: Normal people are serial killers. Anyway, this movie was laughably bad (and kind of dull in spots), but it had intentional humor that worked and I would suggest this to damsel-in-distress fans and cheezy-schlock fans. Everyone else oughtta stay away from this like the black plague!
