- A young boy gets out of the shower and walks across the kitchen completely naked. His bare buttocks is shown for a few seconds.
- A teenage girl begins taking a shower. Her bare breasts can be seen for a few seconds, but any detail is obscured by the sand covering her body.

- A man goes insane and threatens two girls with a knife.
- A man accidentally scalds himself with boiling water. Half of his face is covered in burns.
- Two boys try to fight off an insane man as he tries stabbing and slashing at them with a knife. One of the boys knocks him out with a baseball bat.
- The school kids and teachers are attacked by a giant crab-like monstrosity. It impales some of them with its pincers.
- Two boys have a violent fight to determime who will be the leader of the school kids. Both are bloodied and bruised in the aftermath.
- A man is burnt alive onscreen.

- Despite being darkly comical half the time, the film has the protagonists being thrown from one morbid situation to another.
- The protagonists find themselves in a hopeless state, while at the same time striving to overcome madness, wasteland monstrocities and other bizarre anomalies.
- The ending is very bittersweet, yet tinged with some hope.

Violence & Gore
- While trapped in a strange anomaly, one of the boys attempts to drink from a spring of water, despite being warned not to. His flesh is torn from his body and he becomes a bloodied skeletal husk that gets absorbed into a storm of energy. Very gory and disturbing.
Frightening & Intense Scenes
- A group of boys return to the school from an expedition into the wasteland only to discover that most of the students and teachers were killed in a giant monster attack. A mass grave can be seen.
- A boy sacrifices himself in order to help his friends trap and kill some of the monstrosities attacking them. His death is very emotional.
