Milei has promised a programme of deep cuts to help fix the country’s ravaged economy and the industry fears cultural funding is high up his list.

Producer Jonah Swilley and rapper Brandon “Bez” Evans are the two brains behind the hip-hop duo Revival Season. Their debut album, Golden Age of Self Snitching, is out February 23rd via Heavenly Recordings, and they’re previewing it with the lead single “Pump.”
Citing artists like Dungeon Family, OutKast, and Beastie Boys as some of their main inspirations, Revival Season often nod to hip-hop’s roots with their funk-forward approach. The duo formed while Swilley was looking for his next collaborator, and Bez quickly proved to be the man for the job, creating an “instant rapport and creative chemistry.”
“We kinda worked backwards, reverse-engineered a lot of songs,” explains Swilley, who’d make beats out of Bez’s isolated vocals. “I’d build a track around what he was doing vocally, kind of fill it out rhythmically, using his vocal as an instrument, seeing how I could accompany that musically...

Every 10 years or so, Hollywood seems to fall head over heels in love with a writer. In the 1990s, studios couldn't stop turning John Grisham's legal drama/thriller novels into movies. Such was also the case with romance novelist Nicholas Sparks, starting with "Message in a Bottle" in 1999 and stretching on throughout the 2000s and a little beyond.
More recently, journalist and writer David Grann has quietly emerged as the hot new thing in Tinseltown. His book "Killers of the Flower Moon" is now a $200 million, three-hour epic directed by Martin Scorsese and starring Leonardo DiCaprio, and the screen rights to his newest work, "The Wager: A Tale of Shipwreck, Mutiny, and Murder," were acquired by Scorsese and DiCaprio before it was even published. Recent years have also seen Grann's book "The Lost City of Z: A Tale of Deadly Obsession in the Amazon" and his New Yorker article...

Most people would never think of leaving their hit rock band at the peak of their success, but Sting, frontman of The Police, revealed why he and the rest of the group decided to disband after performing one of the biggest shows of their career.
The Police were one of the biggest bands of the 80s
The Police formed in 1977. The band’s lineup Included Sting, lead vocalist and bass guitar player, Andy Summers, guitar player, and Stewart Copeland, drummer.
The group’s big break came in 1979, with the release of their second album, Regatta de Blanc, which spawned hit singles “Message in a Bottle” and “Walking on the Moon.” Both went No. 1 in the UK.
The Police were huge hitmakers throughout the 1980s, burning up the charts with singles like “Don’t Stand So Close to Me,” “Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic,” and “Every Breath You Take.

Music stars often see their careers ebb and flow over time. After all, the industry moves at such a rapid pace that it’s difficult to keep the momentum going year after year. For instance, Sting has somehow managed to keep fans coming back for more for over 40 years. But his fourth album, 1993’s Ten Summoner’s Tales, marked a departure from what came before.

For instance, Sting – whose own stage name has an interesting backstory – was inspired to write his 1993 hit song “Fields of Gold” by his 16th-century home. Here’s what we know about how one of his most famous tunes came to be.

Even though Bosch has wrapped seven great seasons on Amazon Prime Video, Harry Bosch’s story is still far from over! The police procedural streaming series, starring Titus Welliver as LA Police detective Harry Bosch, continues in new format with a new title – Bosch: Legacy.

Welcome to this week’s “Just for Variety.”
From “Bridget Jones’ Diary” to “Judy,” Renée Zellweger knows a thing or two about transformation.
The two-time Oscar winner’s latest, as convicted murderer Pam Hupp in NBC’s “The Thing About Pam,” is no exception. “It was a team of magicians,” Zellweger told me Monday night at a press event at the Maybourne Beverly Hills hotel. “What they’re capable of is pretty miraculous.”
The six-episode “The Thing About Pam” is based on the podcast of the same name and several episodes of “Dateline NBC,” which detailed the 2011 murder of Hupp’s friend Betsy Faria. Hupp has been charged with the killing. However, Faria’s husband Russ Faria was first sent to prison for the murder, but his conviction was overturned. Hupp is currently serving a life sentence for the murder of Louis Gumpenberger. The real-life drama and the scripted retelling are truly bonkers.

Sting has become the latest elder rocker to cash in his songwriting catalog, selling his back output to Universal Music for a reported $300 million.
In doing so, the 70-year-old Sting joins several such recent sales by artists, including Sony buying Bruce Springsteen’s songwriting catalog and recorded music copyrights for an estimated $550 million in December. Earlier last year, David Bowie’s estate sold his publishing catalog to Warner Chappell Music for $250 million.
Sting’s catalog includes hits like “Roxanne,” “Every Breath You Take,” and “Message in a Bottle,” songs written for his solo career and for The Police. Universal Music already owns his recorded music catalog.
The copyrights to more than 600 songs and future royalties on the catalog are included.
“I am delighted to have Jody and the team at Umpg curate and manage my song catalog,” Sting said in a news release, referring to Universal Music Publishing Group CEO Jody Gerson.

Monday’s episode of The Voice not only marked the beginning of Season 21’s Knockouts, it slid into the Mega Mentor’s seat Ed Sheeran (pre-positive Covid-19 test, obviously). And he quickly proved himself to be not only a savvy advisor to Blake Shelton, John Legend, Kelly Clarkson and Ariana Grande’s starstruck teams but also a right charming chap, too. One minute, he was playfully praising Blake’s dressing-room rendition of “Sweet Caroline,” the next he was cracking wise about how Yanks think that every Englishman drinks tea and knows the queen. And Ok, fine, he has met her,...

Story of lonely boy who feigns friendship with a dead peer has a smart premise but is wretchedly executed
By the end of its long running time, there’s something entirely unbearable about this pass-agg weepie teen-empathy musical, adapted from the 2015 stage hit. And that’s despite a satanically ingenious high-concept premise involving a letter of which even the great romdram novelist Nicholas Sparks, author of Message in a Bottle, might approve.
Ben Platt reprises his Broadway performance as Evan Hansen, the wretchedly lonely and unpopular high-schooler, nursing a broken arm in a cast and on all sorts of anxiety medication, whose therapist has got him writing tragically upbeat letters to himself, beginning “Dear Evan Hansen”. One day in a fit of gloomy honesty he types out a letter to himself in the first person, saying just how horrible his life is, rashly prints it out at school and the...

HBO Max is set to enter into its second month of existence. And you know what that means: it’s Christmas in July!
HBO Max’s list of new releases for July 2020 is highlighted by one prominent Christmas movie: last year’s Emilia Clarke-starring Last Christmas. But the real cause for Christmas in July is all the exciting animated DC content coming our way on the first of the month. July 1 sees the arrival of just about every animated Batman project ever created. July 1 also features the arrival of just about every Justice League animated series ever created as well.
If that weren’t enough, July 1 is also when every live-action Superman movie (save for Man of Steel) makes it streaming debut. July is starting to look like a month where HBO Max establishes its real potential and geek culture bonafides…despite an at-times difficult rollout.

When HBO Max launched last month, DC fans hoped it would be the premiere place to go to watch all their favorite DC content. While the streaming service did have an impressive array of films and TV shows available on launch, there were a lot of notable missing titles, too, due to pre-existing licenses getting in the way. As time goes on, though, more DC properties will end up on the site. Case in point: this July will see a whole heap of superhero content go up on HBO Max.
Below you can find the full list of every movie and TV series coming to HBO Now, Go and Max next month, broken down by day of release. Rise Up New York! Telethon Raises Over $115 Million To Support New Yorkers Most Impacted By Covid-19
Robin Hood, New York’s largest poverty-fighting organization, and iHeartMedia joined together tonight to air a citywide “virtual telethon” to raise awareness and funds to help New Yorkers whose lives have been dramatically impacted by Covid-19.
Billy Joel at Rise Up New York!
Hosted by Tina Fey, “Rise Up New York!” brought together bighearted New Yorkers with one common goal: to raise funds for Robin Hood’s relief and recovery efforts to help fellow New Yorkers rebuild their lives as the city moves towards recovery and beyond. One hundred percent of donations raised are deployed directly to the organizations on the frontlines who are providing support for food, shelter, cash assistance, health and mental health, legal services, education and more. To date, Robin Hood has raised over $115 million toward relief and recovery efforts since the onset of the pandemic in New York City. In addition to tonight’s telethon, over...

Sting is headed to Vegas. The long-ago Police frontman has announced a concert residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace starting in May 2020, with shows set for the following June, August and September. See the schedule below.
Sting: My Songs kicks off May 22, 2020. In an interview with the Associated Press, the 17-time Grammy winner said he was “really committed” to a true Las Vegas experience.
“Visually, sound-wise, dancing — it’s going to be a Vegas show,” he said. “I am a little frightened and a little excited at the same time.”
A total of 16 performances are planned, and tickets will have a reasonable starting price point of $59.
Th 67-year-old performer said he finds the residency concept appealing: “Being in one place is actually a different, spiritual vibe. Welcoming people into your house — that’s basically what it’s going to be. I’ll be telling the story of my life through songs.

Where will Maroon 5’s Super Bowl Liii show wind up on this list?
26. Black Eyed Peas (2011) Before this show, young ‘uns were celebrating the end of the halftime show being owned by the “retirement home.” Afterwards, the old folks were smugly smirking. The absolute worst moment came when Slash arrived to save the day, only for Fergie to commit a cardinal sin against rock by mangling “Sweet Child O’ Mine.” Later in 2011, the Peas’ new album got panned, their motion-sensor video game bombed, and by year’s end, they announced they were going on hiatus.

What better way to ring in the new year than with a loved one?
Nicole Kidman surprised Keith Urban on stage as the singer headlined Jack Daniel's Music City Midnight: New Year's Eve in Nashville, Tennessee on Saturday. The same night, Justin Bieber performed poolside at Fontainebleau Miami Beach, taking the stage right before the clock struck 12 to perform his hit songs, "Sorry," "What Do U Mean," and "Boyfriend," before DJs Marshmello and Skrillex joined the singer onstage for "Where Are U Now." It’s day four of Star Trek Week! I see Graham and Ryan checking the clock and looking annoyed. Don’t worry guys, it’s almost over!
Star Trek: Voyager (Voy) came around during a period of maximum Star Trek saturation. Voyager premiered only a year after Tng ended and only two years after DS9 premiered. The crews of the various iterations of Star Trek boldly went where no one has gone before — and then boldly met a whole lot of alien species.
Star Trek may be the human adventure, but there have been countless non-human beings, critters, menaces, gods, and blobs that have been introduced in the Star Trek universe. From The Original Series to The Animated Series, to The Next Generation, to Deep Space Nine, the Delta Quadrant and Voyager, to the early adventures of Enterprise, to the modern day films, Star Trek has gifted fans with many unforgettable species as the five-year mission slowly turned into five decades of first contact.
There have been vile races bred for combat, omnipotent races that use humankind as puppets, and even a bunch of cute little furry things.

When Office Space hit theaters in February of 1999, it took in a paltry $4.2 million in its first weekend, landing in eighth place behind such widely-forgotten turkeys as My Favorite Martian, Blast From The Past, Message in a Bottle and Payback. Writer/director Mike Judge had proven himself in television with Beavis and Butt-head and King of the Hill, but this seemed like it would end his foray into movies and live-action work before it really began.

At this point, one has to wonder if author Nicholas Sparks’ novels and their film adaptations are assembled overnight by elves in a workshop somewhere in North Carolina. Sparks has had 11 of his stories made into films, the first being 1999’s Message in a Bottle starring Kevin Costner, Robin Wright Penn and Paul Newman. Sparks’ most culturally and commercially significant book-to-screen installment was 2004’s The Notebook (No. 3 of 11) starring Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams. It’s been mostly downhill since, with 2014’s The Best of Me and 2015’s The Longest Ride providing cannon fodder for critics and performing … Continue reading →

55 years ago today, audiences got to meet Pongo, Perdita, Patch, and 98 more spotted puppies when “101 Dalmatians” opened in theaters. The film is often credited with saving Disney Animation — 1959’s “Sleeping Beauty” under-performed at the box office, leading to massive layoffs. Roy O. Disney, Walt’s brother, even tried to convince Walt to shut down their animation department and shift focus to TV production. Fortunately for Baloo, Ariel, Simba, Elsa and all the animated Disney greats that were yet to come, “101 Dalmatians” was a box office hit — it was the 10th highest grossing film of 1961 in the U.S. and Canada. And the characters of “101 Dalmatians” have made their mark on pop culture in the 55 years since. Just because American Idol‘s Top 6 will cover “Arena Anthems” next Wednesday (8/7c on Fox) doesn’t mean we want a Jock Jams-type situation. (Not that there’s anything wrong with “Pump Up the Jam,” mind you.)

Best-selling romance author Nicholas Sparks's brand of schmaltz and tragedy has given us such go-to tearjerkers as "The Notebook," but not every book has become a weepy classic.
Since 1999, with "Message in a Bottle," his films have earned more than $800 million. Lately, however, his appeal seems to be dwindilng, at least for moviegoers. Last year's "The Best of Me," starring Michelle Monaghan and James Marsden, had the lowest opening yet of any the films based on his books. Will the latest adaptation, "The Longest Ride," stars Scott Eastwood (yep, son of Clint) do better?
It wasn't easy -- since rarely have critics and audiences disagreed more -- but we ranked Sparks's movie adaptations from best to worst.
