Perhaps the best of the El Brendel two-reelers that were produced at Columbia from 1936-1945 thanks to director Del Lord and a good script, plus lots of gags, as one would expect from a Lord-directed Columbia short, this marital comedy has El and his newly-married wife trying to enjoy a peaceful honeymoon, but wind up running into her former sweethearts (one played by a young Lloyd Bridges) that eventually drives poor El crazy. Monte Collins also has a nice co- starring role and who worked on the film's script as the latest old flame. The sequence at the firehouse is pretty amusing, but there are a few politically incorrect sight gags you may consider pondering before you watch the whole short.
El would work again with Collins in the haunted house comedy BOOBS IN THE NIGHT, also directed by Lord. It's too bad El had to be paired with an ailing Harry Langdon towards the end of his stint as their shorts are pretty weak, perhaps due to the lack of chemistry between them.
