The Erogenous Zone
Nodriesrespect3 March 2006
A starry cast is the main reason for checking out this surprisingly ordinary early '80s adult film, produced by Bill Milling (of the considerably more lavish ALL American GIRLS movies) and long believed to have been directed under a pseudonym - "Travis St. Germaine" - by Carter Stevens, who made the excellent JAIL BAIT, yet in actuality perpetrated by Robert Michaels a/k/a Dave Darby, producer of the idiosyncratic oeuvre of the late great Roger Watkins, starting with the incomparable HER NAME WAS LISA and taking it from there. One of countless TWILIGHT ZONE porno rip-offs, this one actually borrows one of the show's original concepts (the antique watch that can stop time) and spins it out to feature length with lots of generally unremarkable sex.

Following an introduction by "Sterling Rod" (as Himself, I know my sides are aching), we open on bitchy advertising executive Ms. Rocksoff (the legendary Veronica Hart a/k/a Jane Hamilton) leaving her soapy hot tub for a meeting with promising young underling Ludwig (Bill McKeen, the weaselly-looking little guy who performed the "foreign insertion" on Tiffany Clark in Gerard Damiano's THE SATISFIERS OF ALPHA BLUE and played the chauffeur in the '30s segment of Shaun Costello's PANDORA'S MIRROR) who has designed a provocative campaign for Wheatos breakfast cereals, beating his senior colleague (the ever reliable Robert Bolla a/k/a Robert Kerman of Italian gut cruncher fame) to the punch. Chased away for his outdated ideas, Bolla seeks solace with old friend Jake Teague (who turned up whenever adult movies needed a senior citizen type) who seems to have aged several decades in the past year. Teague reveals that he has come into possession of an enchanted timepiece that can stop time. It also gives its owner the power to "reawaken" people at will, magically horny and ready for action. A demonstration is in order, naturally, with ditsy French maid Christie Ford (the bug-eyed nympho who didn't like endives in Larry Revene's FASCINATION) sharing the seasoned charms of Teague and Bolla.

Excited like a kid in a candy-store, Bolla rushes off to settle old scores, pausing (literally !) long enough to set up an encounter between brazen streetwalker Annie Sprinkle and frizzy-haired Marc Valentine, an Italian mobster type best remembered for his funny scene with the aforementioned Christie Ford in Cecil Howard's superb PLATINUM PARADISE, in the midst of rush hour traffic ! Taunting secretary Flora Blossom (angel face Kandi Barbour, she of the expressive nipples) is first on Bolla's hit list. Attitude adjustment is supplied by a trip down to the "Belle De Jour" club with Mistress Candice (from Lasse Braun's American DESIRE) ruling her stable of slaves, including future PUSSYMAN director David Christopher. This sequence should have been the highlight for the S&M curious crowd but is seriously marred by unenthusiastic performances (the Mistress excluded) with Barbour especially looking like she would rather be anywhere but here. No prizes for guessing that Ms. Rocksoff is going to be Bolla's ultimate target and, through the inevitable TWILIGHT ZONE twist of fate, eventual undoing.

Though clumsy camera work and harsh lighting do her no favors, Hart still comes up as this film's winner with four sex scenes under her belt. She has McKeen for starters and Bolla for dessert, with a somewhat lethargic Sapphic interlude with Tiffany Clark and a medium hot grope with her bulky, be-whiskered, ginger-topped boss (Gordon Duvall, a Shaun Costello regular usually found in a non-sex capacity - most memorably portraying the Renfield character in Dracula EXOTICA - though he was pleasured by the star in the record store in Leonard Kirtman's CONFESSIONS OF SEKA) in between. While none of these encounters will go down (!!!) in hardcore history as Hart's hottest, they still qualify as this flick's highlights. While she's hardly stretched (!!!) as an actress, she still manages to keep the dramatic moments watchable, with considerable help from the characteristically solid Bolla, her best on-screen partner in many a porn classic like AMANDA BY NIGHT, INDECENT EXPOSURE and SOCIETY AFFAIRS.

light-hearted but not a turn-on
starfox-808-9134955 November 2019
My husband and I watched this last night. It is light-hearted with a cute take-off occasionally on the Twilight Zone. The female actors are "au naturale" and quite attractive. I found the male actors to be less so. Though the sex scenes have the money-shots, the moans, groans, and sounds during sex seem to be dubbed. They definitely did not match the lips of the actors. I was never convinced that the women ever had an orgasm. There are an abundance of male close-ups and female breasts. For those who may enjoy close-ups of the lower portions of the female anatomy, these mostly are shot at a distance (in one instance even thru a mirror).
