It seems like we just keep reporting on brand new shark attack horror movies, and that’s definitely not a complaint. This next one is titled High Tide, and Deadline brings us the scoop.
Lizzy Greene (A Million Little Things) will star and executive produce.
The upcoming survival horror movie “strands a group of friends on a swiftly submerging tidal island deep in the Pacific, where they are soon hunted by the ocean’s greatest predator.”
Deadline details, “Lizzy Greene will play Hannah who, mourning the death of her sister, takes off around the world. Her journey leads her to Fiji and on a tour of an isolated atoll – a volcanic island that disappears with each high tide. But when the group are stranded, the rapidly rising ocean begins to reveal its terrifying inhabitants.”
David Straiton (“Hemlock Grove”) is directing High Tide.
Erik Patterson and Jessica Scott (Abandoned) wrote the screenplay.

The Requin. The Reef: Stalked. The Black Demon. Now Something in the Water. I’m reaching my breaking point with shark attack movies that are too distracted by other plotlines to deliver on their promise: shark attacks. Hayley Easton Street’s Something in the Water might be the biggest offender listed, taking roughly thirty minutes until the first shark-related incident, then another fifteen(ish) minutes for the first of frustratingly few substantial shark spottings. Cat Clarke’s screenplay tries to establish poignant storytelling about hate crimes, broken relationships, and debilitating traumas, but in doing so, forgets about the massive shark plastered all over the film’s marketing materials. Street and Clarke aim to elevate shark cinema with emotional throughlines, but sink the entire project with an alarmingly imbalanced approach.

Countless shark attack horror movies have flooded the market since Steven Spielberg changed the game with Jaws back in the 1970s, but the reality is that most of them aren’t very good. For every quality shark attack movie like Deep Blue Sea or The Shallows, there are about 100 imitators that have only really served to devalue the entire subgenre in their wake.
But every so often, we get a good one. And Netflix may have one of those on their hands with Under Paris, a shark attack horror movie from French filmmaker Xavier Gens.
Fresh off the just-released action movie Mayhem!, Xavier Gens (Frontiers, Cold Skin) is back this June with Under Paris, and Netflix has unleashed the official trailer this week.
Following in the grand tradition of Jaws, a celebration turns into a PR nightmare when a hungry shark comes to Paris. One shark. A whole lot of tasty humans.

If you’re a fan of true crime documentaries or early millennium classic cartoons then boy does Hulu’s list of new releases have some great news for you!
Hulu continues its implicit understanding that streaming services are basically true crime distribution machines this month with a trio of intriguing titles. While it’s not necessarily true crime per se, The Ashley Madison Affair about the notorious dating platform premieres on July 7. That will be followed by Betrayal: The Perfect Husband on July 11, which is based on a compelling podcast of the same name. The Jewel Thief arrives on July 13 to provide an account of Gerald Blanchard, one of history’s most creative criminals.
But where does the cartoon excitement comes in? Well, that’s because season 11 of Matt Groening’s beloved Futurama premieres on July 24. Fry, Leela, the Professor, and Bender will all return for a direct continuation of...

Who the F*ck Is Strick may be a confrontational tour title, but the rapper born Tauren Strickland is ready for his pseudonym to permeate beyond the prominent hip-hop circles he’s a part of. Before signing to Young Thug’s Young Stoner Life Records in 2018, he was a branding liaison to Atlanta’s hottest acts and a songwriter as well, earning a credit on the platinum Travis Scott album Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight. After touring with Kid Cudi as an opener last fall, he’s hitting the road as a headliner.

For cinematographer Lawrence Sher, the focus has always been on the director. That philosophy has carried Sher’s imagery to millions of filmgoers, including his latest work set to hit screens this year: “Godzilla: King of the Monsters,” directed by Michael Dougherty, and “Joker,” directed by Todd Phillips, who has also collaborated with Sher on all three “Hangover” films. “Whatever success I’ve achieved comes from the fact that I care as deeply about the movie as the director does,” says Sher. “My No. 1 job is to take some of the burden and stress off of their shoulders, and I do that with thorough preparation.”
Sher took an unusual route. An economics major at Wesleyan University in Connecticut, he bypassed film school, moved to Los Angeles and started out as a camera assistant on commercials and music videos. He took any opportunity to shoot, took thousands of stills using motion picture stocks,...

He’s brought menace, mayhem and machetes to everything from Breaking Bad to Three-Headed Shark Attack. Meet Danny Trejo, the ex-con who punched his way into the movies
Danny Trejo is 74 but he was never meant to live so long. “I didn’t even think I’d make it out of the 1960s,” says the actor, with a deep husky laugh. “I picked the wrong role model,” he explains, recalling how he first tried heroin at the age of 12 and embarked on a life of crime. “I picked my uncle, who was a drug addict and an armed robber. But he was the greatest guy in the world as far as I was concerned.”

The third installment in the so-silly-it's-awesome "Sharknado" series now has its final lineup and is getting a special premiere week slate of programming, which Syfy announced on Thursday.

Today's New York and Los Angeles release of "Rampart" will test the marketability of Woody Harrelson playing a corrupt L.A. cop -- and the mettle of its fledgling distributor, Millennium Entertainment. "The old model of the company was primarily direct-to-video titles like 'Shark Attack 5,'" jokes Millennium's Brooke Ford, executive VP marketing of the new distribution entity. She's only partly teasing. Millennium is owned by Avi Lerner. For years, the Israeli mogul was successful producing cheap titles for mostly international audiences through Nu Image, the label that gave us "Shark Attack" (and its sequels) as well as films like "Bird Flu Horror," "Vampire in Vegas" and "Mega Snake." Less impressive, however, is Lerner's track record producing movies for specialty audiences. Lerner and his Nu Image partners launched their production arm Millennium Films in Cannes nearly 15 years...

Movies based on stories by Edgar Allan Poe are nothing new. Movies about the short life of the macabre writer are in shorter supply. One of Edgar Allan Poe's biggest fans is pushing to get a biopic about the famed writer into production. Because when you think Edgar Allan Poe you think... Sylvester Stallone?
Empire Online caught up with Sylvester Stallone to talk to him about his all-star action flick The Expendables opening next year, as well as the possible Death Wish remake he's considering starring in. British rock musician and vocalist Harry "the Dog" Bridgen unveiled his new All-Star Traveling Soul Circus after a spirited introduction by Bai Ling, at the Unknown Theater on Seward in Hollywood (a cool and spacious theater, complete with bar area, all hidden behind a single door. As they said in Swingers, "It sort of has a speakeasy feel." )

Joining the band on guitar was musician-actress Jenny McShane (below), who has starred in the Shark Attack series of films, along with Furnace and The Watcher, opposite Keanu Reeves.
