Padres e Hijos

Strangely, this series, although being the worst ever produced and broad casted in my native country, Colombia, it remains in every and single Colombian television set, day by day. One of the most "terrible" secrets kept within this series, consists in the reason that every man who mets Daniela falls in love with her, despite she is so UGLY.

I strongly recommend not to look this series. By now, I'm about to accomplish 3 years without doing it, and my life became better than ever. Follow my advice: don't stuck your head with this kind of trash.

Another mystery has to do with its long-lasting existence in Colombian screens. I believe this is the only series that have achieved the term of 15 years on air, first at Canal Uno, and later (and right now) at Caracol Television.

Surprisingly, the only TV program that made a strong competition for this show was "The Simpsons", aired by Caracol Television at noon, in the times when this show was aired by another network. However, and after beating the ratings, Caracol acquired the series, letting us, the Simpson's fans, held in sadness.

A Thing to forget

What can you said about this -thing-...

For almost two decades this series has been a real nightmare for Colombia. First, the actors. All of them were really awful. They didn't act, they pretend. They try to be sometime deep, but they only succeed in been dumb. ¿Experience? ¿Talent? ¿Studies? It doesn't matter for these series. You can be the most stupid model and here you could find a job... This were the pool from a lot of Colombian actors came, but they didn't try to be selective... never. Whoever can talk, whoever can move, it works for them. The result, a lot of people watched this series only to critic it. And for a lot of actors this was OK.

Second, the plot. The try to remake Family Ties, with Michael J. Fox and it the end they succeed in making everything, except it. In almost twenty years they stole arguments from everywhere... movies, series, books, more movies, more USA series, mores stupid books, and as it happens always with this series, they achieve their principal goal, been dumb and silly to catch all the audience compassion and no more.

Can you imagine the photography, the direction, the dialogues of this thing? No, you can't. You have to watch it for yourselves, this is even worst that some Indian movies, this is even worst that some Venezuelan a Peruvian soup operas. I really don't know something lower.

The best of the worst

Warning: Spoilers
One of the reasons this series has had "success" have been many: when "Padres e Hijos" was in the air back in the 90's, were good stories about the Colombian family and how they could settle the dispute with the aid of dialog, but with time became a weighted cheesy nonsense stories and huge plot holes that the five family members have become and have grown to hundreds of people as starring tucked into a tangle of unlikely stories, but have even is some real data ... Violence, unemployment, teen problems, drugs, family problems. But we must admit that the thing that keeps in the air this series, is that competition (Canal A, then Canal RCN when this series moved to Canal Caracol) delivers horrible Venezuelan or Mexican soap operas during the seventeen years of "Padres e Hijos" have delivered . Many young people who grew up with this program is heating it right now, but at the same time, They haven't lost any of it's chapters. I wonder why

Interesting approach to family conflict and resolution

This show was part of my growing experience. It was always reflecting the problems youth have while growing up regardless of what family they grow in. It was the first time a show analized the dynamics of step family with all the conflicts that may bring.
