A clone of Castlevania for the most part...only Frankenstein's monster is featured

This game was pretty good, though when playing it I kept thinking I would rather be Simon Belmont using my whip! Yes, pretty much a Castlevania clone with a few added wrinkles to make it a bit different. There are cut scenes that add sort of an RPG feel to it, some levels have secrets to uncover and this time Frankenstein's monster is the star! Though they refer to the monster as Frankenstein here. You start out in this one using your fist to pummel the evil hordes of monsters that for some reason follow the monster and for the most part it is an easy enough game to pick up and play.

The story has Frankenstein's monster returning from the grave to exact his revenge upon a village and to take a bride for himself. You are the hero charged with following him and stopping him. You must track Frankenstein through the ruins of a town, a forest infected with the monster's evil, a haunted cemetery and a dimension of darkness and madness. Several monsters try to stop you as some have been forced to do the monster's bidding, while others do so of their own free will.

The game play has you usually going left or right, trying to get passed several monsters and a few bosses here and there. There are a lot of variety of enemies to face down here. Some stages allow you to go into the buildings, but in the first stage this is pointless! The best way to progress is to power up your weapon so that it shoots projectiles and it will make your fights with the bosses all the easier! You can get life power ups as well, and the more you get the better your chances as well!

So a fun game, not quite as good as Castlevania, but not to distant. There is a bit more to it than the original Castlevania, but it is still a short game. It took maybe an hour for me to play through this one and fight Frankenstein's monster to the death! I did find it funny that the girl you had to rescue seemed to be modern as her clothes did not look like something out of the 19th century, while the hero looked like a gladiator or something.
