Many of us continue to bash the Star Wars prequel trilogy: it’s coarse and rough and irritating and – sorry, but that line and its delivery remain some of the worst in the entire saga. The hate for Jake Lloyd was one thing, but Hayden Christensen was a big boy and could handle it from the legion of Star Wars fans, no matter how dreadful the dialogue was. And to prove it, he reprised his role as Anakin Skywalker for Obi-Wan Kenobi and Ahsoka; and if given the chance, he would jump at even more opportunities to do so.
While Hayden Christensen expressed gratitude for being invited back into the Star Wars franchise for the Disney+ shows, he hopes it was just the beginning. “I would love to get to do more, and I’d love to get to continue with Star Wars and we’ll see. I don’t know what the future holds,...

Hayden Christensen, who has played Anakin Skywalker in various Star Wars movies and series, has signed with Independent Artist Group for representation.
The actor famously nabbed the coveted part of the heroic-yet-tragic young man who would become Darth Vader in George Lucas’ Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones and concluded his fall from grace with Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith.
Seventeen years later, he reprised his role for the Disney+ series Obi-Wan Kenobi, a massive hit for the streamer, and the recently finished Ahsoka, which also proved to be a hit.
The signing with Iag is a full-circle moment as it sees the actor reteaming with the person who signed him as he was ascending with Star Wars back in the early 2000s. Iag CEO Jim Osborne signed the Canadian thespian with iconic agent Ed Limato when the two reps were at ICM...

SAG Awards nominee profile: Taron Egerton (‘Black Bird’) would be third youngest male TV winner ever
Just last year, Michael Keaton’s Screen Actors Guild Award victory for “Dopesick” made him the fifth man to win the organization’s Best TV Movie/Miniseries Actor prize after losing on his first lead film bid (for 2014’s “Birdman”). Now, since Taron Egerton has earned guild recognition for Apple TV+’s “Black Bird” after coming up short on his nomination for the 2019 film “Rocketman,” the group is already on the verge of gaining its sixth member. If he triumphs on this outing, the 33-year-old will also follow comedy champ Sean Hayes and limited series victor Darren Criss as the third youngest man to ever win an individual SAG Award for TV acting.
The four actors who preceded Keaton in eventually spinning their initial lead film losses into TV movie or miniseries wins were Paul Newman, Kevin Kline, Paul Giamatti and Bryan Cranston. Keaton and Giamatti stand apart from the...

Trailblazing director Betty Thomas will receive the DGA’s prestigious Robert B. Aldrich Award for her “extraordinary service to the guild and its members” at the 73rd Annual DGA Awards.
Veteran Upm Brian E. Frankish and longtime CBS operations’ associate director Joyce Thomas will receive special awards for their service to the guild and the industry. The awards show will be held on April 10, but the DGA isn’t saying yet whether it will be virtual or not.
All three recipients have long histories of service to the guild. Betty Thomas serves as the DGA’s secretary-treasurer – the guild’s second-highest elected officer.
“Betty means so much to our guild,” said DGA president Thomas Schlamme. “No matter how busy she’s been throughout her remarkable, ceiling-shattering directing career, she’s always placed service to her fellow members among her highest priorities, fighting for their creative and economic rights. I’ve been waiting a while to talk about this movie. Over a year after its debut at the 2016 Tribeca Film Festival, Demetri Martin’s filmmaking debut Dean is finally hitting theaters this week. Already a successful comedian and actor, Martin shows off his writing and directing skills in a big way here. Dean is an assured first time behind the camera, to say the least. After winning a prize at Tribeca last year, the flick was picked up for release by CBS Films and has sat back for over a year, biding its time. Now, the film is coming out and I’m here to remind you that it was well worth the wait. Few releases this year have been better. It’s a special work. Here’s a bit on the movie itself. As previously mentioned, Martin writes, directs, and stars in this dramedy about grief. Martin’s...

There's a lot to complain about regarding George Lucas' "Star Wars" prequel trilogy, and the actor who found himself the most frequently in the firing line was Canadian thesp Hayden Christensen who portrayed Anakin Skywalker.
Jumping from obscurity to overnight household name following his casting, the young actor struggled with the character and dialogue of the 'Wars' prequels more so than the rest of the more experienced talent around him. Family: You can't live with 'em, you can't live without 'em - so you might as well make a movie about them. That's exactly what Ron Howard did with Parenthood, which hit theaters on August 2, 1989. The story of four siblings working to raise their children right and keep their sanity at the same time, this movie was (and still is) relatable to moms and dads of all generations. Since its release, Parenthood has gone on to inspire two different TV shows, and it serves as an adorable archive of big stars in their early years. In fact, one of Bryce Dallas Howard...

Kristin Scott Thomas, one of film's most acclaimed and prolific actresses, says that she's essentially retiring from screen acting after three decades and sixty five films.
In a lengthy interview with The Guardian, the 53-year-old actress says this decision came about suddenly in September: "I just suddenly thought, I cannot cope with another film. I realised I've done the things I know how to do so many times in different languages, and I just suddenly thought, I can't do it any more. I'm bored by it. So I'm stopping."
She goes on to say: "The kinds of films that I do are usually quite rapidly put together, and it always seems to be a little bit of a shambles. I like filming, but what I don't like is having to rearrange things and rewrite scenes. I just can't be bothered. I'm often asked to do something because I'm going to...

His new movie, Last Vegas, is a geriatric take on the party town stag weekend. He talks about why he'll never return, Hollywood's obsession with youth, and playing Falstaff in a fat suit
Last year, Kevin Kline spent a fortnight in Las Vegas shooting his latest movie. It was his first trip to that infamous mecca of sex and excess. "And my last," proclaims the 66-year-old, voice rolling, theatrical. "Everyone looked so miserable. I would see these couples pushing babies in strollers through the casinos like zombies. It was horrible." He shakes his head, sorrowful.
"And I just couldn't bear the constant noise. I would step outside the hotel to get some fresh air and it would be 'boom, boom, boom'" – he does an impressive impression of pounding bassline – "disco music blaring on the kerb, by the pool, everywhere. That is not my idea of tranquillity."
This, I suspect, is more like it.

South By Southwest (SXSW) in Austin, Texas is truly a unique festival and 2013 was my first full experience despite living here for the past few years. You’ll hear the horror stories of long lines, tough venue locations, overpriced concessions, and the traffic, oh the traffic. Fortunately there are more positives than negatives thanks to the amazing opportunities afforded by a film festival with such a vast range of genre, excellent weather and tacos.
We had the opportunity to see movies about magicians, horror remakes, Disney actresses snorting cocaine off naked bodies, documentaries about punk bands, a Big Ass Spider, and the new Shane Carruth flick which I am still processing. That’s just a taste of what this year’s lineup offered. It’d be a little difficult to only showcase seven films from an overall excellent year, so I’ve taken the Top 7 Most Memorable Moments of SXSW 2013 whether it be trends,...

Someone is making their Oscar grab! When we think of Amy Adams, our minds tend to picture cartoon birds, healthy teeth and apple pies, not unkempt hair, bell bottoms and unchecked drug use. According to Hollywood Reporter, however, director Lee Daniels is “in talks” to direct the Enchanted star in Get It While You Can, a film version of the Janis Joplin biopic. We’re not the only ones who think this sounds sort of insane, right? Of course if the film reaches theaters, Amy would join a semi-proud lineage of extremely random casting picks like…

Lionsgate has made it official: Jena Malone is Johanna Mason for "The Hunger Games" sequel "Catching Fire." Johanna is described by Lionsdate as "a female victor from a past Games still in her early twenties, and is one of the youngest, but also one of the most psychologically scarred Quarter Quell participants." Earlier: Malone needs a revival after Zack Snyder's misfire, "Sucker Punch." The 27-year old actress has an impressive but imperfect resume that includes "Stepmom," "Donnie Darko," "Life As A House," "Cold Mountain," "Saved!," "Pride and Prejudice," "Into the Wild" and "The Messenger." It's wise to choose an experienced actress to play in "Catching Fire" (and third installment, "Mockingjay") across from Jennifer Lawrence. Mark Isham has recently recorded his score for the upcoming drama The Lucky One. The composer has taken over scoring duties from Hal Lindes who was originally attached to write the music for the film as reported earlier this year. The movie based on a novel by Nicholas Sparks (The Notebook, Dear John) follows a Marine who survives three tours in Iraq and attributes his good fortune to a photograph he carried of a woman he has never met. He sets out to meet his good-luck charm when he returns to North Carolina. The drama starring Zac Efron, Taylor Schilling and Blythe Danner is directed by Scott Hicks (Hearts in Atlantis, Tye Boys Are Back). While the project marks the first collaboration between Isham and Hicks, some of the composer’s score from Life as a House was used in the director’s romantic drama No Reservations. Warner Bros is...

Friday Update: I've just heard from Paradigm's Jim Osbourne, who tells me Hayden Christensen moved to the agency's David Guillod 5 months ago and offers this explanation about the actor: "He wouldn't read for Clint Eastwood's Hereafter, he passed on Afterlife opposed Liam Neeson, he passed on Cheri opposite Michelle Pfeiffer. It's so competitive for young actors right now that sitting on a farm in Toronto is not going to get him a job." Thursday: The 29-year-old actor had been at Paradigm, and before that at Icm, with Jim Osborne. He just co-starred in Sony’s Takers and will next appear in film Vanishing On 7th Street. But his career never took off -- and it should have -- after his turn as Anakin Skywalker in the second and third Star Wars prequels or his breakout role in the 2001 film Life As A House. "The Last Song," the new drama based on a novel by Nicholas Sparks, debuted at the top of the North American box office Wednesday with a decent one-day gross of $5.1 million in ticket sales from 2,673 locations. The Buena Vista/Touchstone release scored an average of $1,917 per theater.
Directed by Julie Anne Robinson, the movie stars Miley Cyrus as a rebellious teenager forced to spend the summer at her dad's beach home. I know it sounds like a "Life as a House" ripoff, and in my book, the movie is terrible. Still, it looks like it's going to perform well enough this weekend.
Also doing well Wednesday was DreamWorks' "How to Train Your Dragon," which bagged another $4.5 million for a total haul of $57.8 million. Following in third place with $1.9 million was "Alice in Wonderland," which generated $1.9 million for a domestic total of $299.4 million.

Kevin Bacon, 'Taking Chance'In this powerful, fact-based film, skillfully crafted as a visually moving journey, Kevin Bacon stars as Lt. Col. A dedicated Marine, Strobl is conflicted by not being on the front lines, instead relegated to life behind a desk in a cubicle. Hoping for inner resolution, he volunteers for escort duty.In an online interview with HBO, when asked what about the role surprised him the most, Bacon responded, "Actually, the whole process of making the film. It felt in some ways similar to what I imagined the original journey to be." Okay, brace yourselves. We’ve got a little treat for all you members of Team Edward out there. The trailer for Remember Me, the new drama starring Robert Pattinson, was released today. Despite the presence of Pierce Brosnan and Chris Cooper, the movie looks hokey as hell. With Pattinson front and center, it really feels like an actor trying his hardest not to get pigeon-holed. In that, it feels a lot like Life As A House, December Boys, or Cherrybomb, a film I’m convinced is never going to see the light of day.
But, it stars Pattinson, who’s got some kind of fan-based from this whole Twilight thing, so here you go. Enjoy:

We've listed down our top 50 hottest young actors and would be coming up with the latest updates very soon. Yesterday, we discussed about actors we believed to be quite underrated. How about the young actors we consider overrated? That's what this article is for...

Who qualifies as overrated? Guys who seem to be getting lots of buzz, but has no real talent at all, or perhaps just a small amount of it. I have no issue if an actor gets the cover of GQ or Details or L'Uomo Vogue every month. They can even strut their stuff on the catwalks of Milan and Paris and gain additional media mileage. But to be considered the hottest actor on the planet with nothing to show yet? That is something totally absurd.
Anyway, here's our list of ten just after the jump!

Kevin Kline has intervened with the makers of his latest film Life As A House to elevate the status of his co-star - a dog. Kline, who stars opposite Kristin Scott Thomas in the upcoming movie, became so attached to J.J., the pooch that appears in one of the scenes, that he mounted a vigorous campaign to keep him in as many scenes as possible for the rest of the film. Hollywood's top animal trainer Boone Narr, who has provided screen pets and co-stars for the likes of Julia Roberts, Brad Pitt and Jim Carrey, says Kline just fell in love with J.J., a golden labrador, and pleaded with film bosses to keep him on set. Narr says, "J.J. was only supposed to have a minor role in the movie, but Kevin liked him so much they wrote him in to the rest of the movie. Instead of working a month on it, he ended up working for four months on it. You hear about actors getting attached to each other when they do movies and it's exactly the same with the animals, they do get attached to them."...
