American composer Carlisle Floyd's opera "Susannah", based on a Biblical story "Apocrypha" transferred to a contemporary rural Tennessee, is presented with scenes from the New York City Opera's new production.
Based on the 1930 classic by Faulkner, it is the story of the death of Addie Bundren and her family's quest to honor her wish to be buried in the nearby town of Jefferson.
The story of Romeo and Juliet is presented in three artistic media: scenes from the play with Bryarly Lee and Stephen Joyce; a ballet choreographed by Anthony Tudor with Nora Kaye and Hugh Laing; and excerpts from Hector Perlioz' opera.
