OK sex, stupidly handled storyline
lor_29 October 2010
It was apparently like climbing Mount Everest for the lion's share of pornographers to deliver both stimulating sex and an effective story in one package back in the day. Those who succeeded are revered as geniuses in retrospect, but the author of SEX STATION flunked.

The liner notes on Something Weird's video Vol. 79 of its Dragon Art Theatre series identifies the uncredited leading actresses are from the later films SWINGING SORORITY and SWINGING SKI GIRLS, both directed by Don Trendall, so he might be the anonymous helmer here. They're attractive and enthusiastic, but the plot is ridiculous.

They portray fake Kelly girls, hired as temp secretaries by various companies but actually involved in industrial espionage. Their boss demands they get some "contracts" signed each time, and the lousy screenplay does not make it clear what is being stolen, other than allusions to shares of stock. When John Holmes appears in the final reels as a company board member who gets elected to become the firm's next president, all semblance of logic is cast to the winds. He's in need of some viagra as usual, though he does force feed his appendage to the heroines.

The title may refer to the film's "best" (in context) sequence, set in the control booth of a recording studio. We see a mixed group of performers waxing a new reggae disk, and for a few moments this turns into an almost-real movie, with the promise of an original soundtrack. But as soon as a fake Kelly girl starts forcing sex on the record producer in the booth, we're back to piracy mode: playing welcome if un-paid for original recordings of Dr. John's "Right Place, Wrong Time" and then War's "Slippin' into Darkness" as if the sounds were being made live by the motley group in the studio next door.

This junk has "Watson" and "Holmes" used as the girls' code names and other pointless detail that left me unimpressed. The first girl is a spitting image for Gabrielle Anwar (circa SCENT OF A WOMAN rather than BURN NOTICE), and that turned me on.
