A wonderful piece to my childhood memories...
crazypoohbear69_05012 July 2005
I was beginning to think I made this show up. My friends and I were recently reminiscing about old shows and I tried to remind them of this particular show to the point where I even sang the "Mr. M" song more than what should be allowed in the state of Georgia. Then I realized that my class was the only one at Norcross Elementary to show it. I bought a couple tapes off of EBay and made them watch it to prove I hadn't made it up. Now we are all addicted. The letter people is a wonderful show that makes learning fun. I am going to share this treasure with my children and I hope you will all share it with yours. Shout out to Ms. Pinsky's class! User Rating 8/10

I have the original videos of all 60 episodes of this show. Kids still love to watch this show and it's great for big kids who remember it from the 70's. I have a full cast list and pictures I can post if anyone is interested. I also have lots of other items such as records and books etc.

Come and meet the Letter People....

This was one of my favorite shows. I remember that sometimes it would be a little creepy. I think the creepiest episode involved Mr. G. I would love to have this series on DVD. I cannot believe the number of my friends who do not remember this show. I thought it was great and I loved all of the characters. There are only a few that I still remember. I had no idea this show was from the 70's. I watched it in the early 80's. The great thing about the Letter people is that it could still be shown today and still mean something and teach something and be entertaining. My stomach turns at the sight of some of today's children shows. I think reruns of The Letter People, Todays Special, and Mr. Rogers should never end.

ah, the memories...

I grew up watching the Letter People, and, even though I was scared of "Mr. M" for a time (long story), I loved the simple and effective explanations of how letters can form words...pity that the "new" Letter People (in school curriculum programs only) have been altered to be more politically correct, and lack the personality of the original 26...I'm fortunate to have taped some episodes many, many years ago, but I would love for my children to see this show--RELEASE THIS ON VIDEO/DVD, please!!!

Great kids show from the 70's and 80's.

This was a great show when I was a kid. I used to love it's visuals and music. This was even part of our schoolwork in Kindergarten. The teacher started each Monday's class by playing a 45rpm record of the letter for the week. Then we would do worksheets of the character. We had color sheets and little "puppets". (The puppets were paper characters on a popsicle stick). The teacher also had a giant inflatable character for each letter that would sit on a desk by the record.

The show itself was also wonderful. It would help teach the alphabet and reading. Each show was based around one letter, and the various characters (Such as Mr. M, with the Munchy-Mouth, and Mr. F that had Funny Feet) would teach us the letter's place in the alphabet, and what kind of sound it made, and words that the letter was in. It was a great show, I remember watching it in the mid-80's. (I was in Kindergarten in 1988, 14 years after the show started, and it was still in use then. I have no idea how long schools used it.) I would recommend this to fans of Sid and Marty Kroft style puppetry, or anyone who is interested in a fun educational program for children. It's also great for those of us who remember it and just want to re-live our childhood a little bit.
