Sex & Nudity

Violence & Gore

  • the SNES version takes away the gore when enemy's explode
  • In gba version the blood is green instead of red
  • Definitely the most game doom game but what is being depicted is very disturbing.
  • Contains frequent bloody violence, horror, and depictions of gore and viscera. However due to the 8-bit cartoony graphics none of it is as horrifying or disturbing by today's standards.
  • The violent content is gruesomely graphic and cathartic, and very gory. However, it's pretty tame compared the sequels.

Profanity

  • The 'BFG' stands for Big F*ckin Gun but this is never actually said in the game.
  • When playing online player's can use whatever curse words or slurs they like as the game's text chat lacks a filter. Popular Sourceport's don't remedy this issue.
  • Nothing of concern. The word "ass" appears once via in-game text.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • The main song E1M1 sounds a lot like Metallica's "Master Of Puppets" which is about a drug addiction.
  • None.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Violence and threat in a horror context may disturb some viewers.
