Civ 3 is truly a great game. I have not played the previous civilizations but the third installment of the series is terrific. You start as a nomad and work your way up throughout history. You discover and develop everything from the wheel to archers to frigates to planes to ICBM's. The game can also be short or long depending on how you go about things, the ultimate goal is world domination.

Civilization III is one of the best games I have ever played. I have followed the Civilization series since it first hit the market in '92 and have been a huge fan ever since. This one takes the cake, however.
Basically, your objective in the game is to take control of an infant civilization and leave your mark in history through one of many victories. You must achieve victory through cultural conquest, world domination, colonization of a distant star, possessing a certain percentage of the world, or several other paths.
This is one of the greatest games ever created. The plethora of options and multiple approaches to the game will keep anyone with the will to learn occupied infinitely. ***** out of *****

An Honest Review

It's pretty ugly. You play for long enough and your civ turns into a web or roads, and then railroads that is just... ugly.
IV was a bit more attractive.
But that doesn't really matter much because as fun as III is to play, the real appeal is in the scenarios. They were fun. They were seriously run, especially the dark age scenario, or the cult of blood as you marched slaves to be sacrificed in the mesoamerica scenario.
Those were fun games to play, and you could approach them from so many different strategies and locations that you could play them endlessly.
This was a very fun game, and one that I wish I could still play.

In 2003 year Firaxis Games tried to correct what Civilization II wiped out. Giving raw materials and the system of the culture had it apply. However, increasing the corruption, the system of pollutants and intense rebellion which burst in cities weakened gameplay like Civilization I. Admittedly a graphics was improved and sound, the interface became more comfortable, but for example then the worker according to many players' would have to be thrown away. Progress is missing gameplay with respect to the first Civilization. This game is only average and isn't offering a gameplay of Civilization I. Only Soren renovated series Johnson and the glory for him by it.
