Today, Ashley Eckstein is known for voicing one of the most popular "Star Wars" characters of the 21st century: Ahsoka Tano. The performer, who has won praise and recognition for her turn as the Togruta Jedi turned Rebel, surprised audiences when she made her debut in "Star Wars: The Clone Wars." She quickly proved herself capable of not just kicking major butt in the "Star Wars" universe but also of being great enough to slip into existing canon without alienating picky fans of the original and prequel trilogies.
Since Ahsoka's introduction, she's become a massively popular character, starring in "Star Wars Rebels" and "Tales of the Jedi" and making the leap to live action, with Rosario Dawson putting on the head tails to embody the character. Ahsoka wasn't always embraced by "Star Wars" fans, though. In an interview Eckstein gave to Vanity Fair in 2020, the actor revealed that reactions...

Estelle Harris, who played George Costanza’s (Jason Alexander) mother Estelle on the iconic NBC sitcom Seinfeld, died Saturday evening of natural causes in Palm Desert, California, just weeks before her 94th birthday.
“It is with the greatest remorse and sadness to announce that Estelle Harris has passed on this evening at 6:25pm,” her son Glen Harris, who held her as she drew her final breath, told Deadline. “Her kindness, passion, sensitivity, humor, empathy and love were practically unrivaled, and she will be terribly missed by all those who knew her.”

In the 18 years since he made his TV acting debut on the Disney Channel series “Phil of the Future,” Evan Peters has appeared in a recurring or regular capacity on seven more shows, including nine installments of the anthology series “American Horror Story.” Now, he has at last succeeded in capturing the attention of his peers in the Screen Actors Guild with his performance on the HBO limited series “Mare of Easttown,” which just won him an Emmy last September. If he ends up taking home the Best TV Movie/Mini Actor prize, he will be the seventh actor to win it on his first-ever SAG bid and the first since Kevin Costner (“Hatfields & McCoys”) nine years ago.
Peters’s challengers in this contest are Murray Bartlett (“The White Lotus”), Oscar Isaac (“Scenes from a Marriage”), Michael Keaton (“Dopesick”), and Ewan McGregor (“Halston”). Like Peters, both Bartlett and Isaac are SAG newcomers.

During the 2000s, the Disney Channel simply couldn’t miss when it came to original shows. The network had several very popular shows and Phil of the Future was one of them. Although the series ran for just two seasons, it had a dedicated fan base and it gave a group of talented young stars a chance to share their skills with the world. In the years since the show ended, some of its cast members have gone on to become regulars in the entertainment industry. Others, however, have been a little less active. If you were a fan of the

There’s no doubt that some folks still remember Phil of the Future since it did run for two seasons on the Disney Channel and was one of those short-time series that people did pay attention to on the off-hand that it would stick around for longer than it did. But since it was taken off a while back, the cast has yet to get together for a reunion as so many shows do. Instead, a lot of them, like Raviv Ullman, took off in their own directions to do what they could to maintain their career and possibly increase their

Aly & Aj have come a long way in the last 15 years. The sister duo, Aly and Aj Michalka, first rose to fame with pop rock hits like "Potential Breakup Song" and "Chemicals React" in the early 2000s, and over the years, fans have watched them mature not only as artists, but also as young women. In 2017, they made their nearly 10-year comeback to music with their '80s-inspired single, "Take Me," followed by their appropriately titled Ep, Ten Years, later that year.
Now, the ladies are back yet again. Following the release of their insanely catchy lead single "Church" and the upbeat track "Don't Go Changing" earlier this year, Aly & Aj released their new synth-pop Ep, Sanctuary, on May 10, and are currently performing across the country for their Sanctuary tour.
"A sanctuary can be something different for a lot of people, but for us, sanctuary really represents our fans.

TV Academy chairman and CEO Hayma Washington will not run for a second two-year term when the group holds its annual elections next month, Deadline has confirmed.
Washington was a co-governor of the Producers Branch of the TV Academy, when he elected to the top spot by the board of governors in 2016, becoming the first African-American leader in the organization’s 70-year history.
He had succeed Bruce Rosenblum, who was termed out after serving five years in the role.
Variety, which broke the news first Tuesday, quoted Washington as saying he wanted to return his focus to producing and efforts to improve “inclusion and diversity” in the industry. The former VP at Disney was an executive producer on CBS’ The Amazing Race, sharing in the reality series’ seven consecutive Emmy Awards from 2003-2009. His other credits included Phil of the Future, Lay It Down and the docuseries Hurricane Hunters.

Broad City, Season 2, Episode 1, “In Heat”
Written by Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer
Directed by Lucia Aniello
Airs Wednesdays at 10:30pm on Comedy Central
Seconds into the second season premiere of Broad City, it’s unbelievably exciting to be back in the company of Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer, two of the most wonderful and delightful people on our little planet. In the first season, this simple comedy seemed initially to not be much more than a funny hangout show. Quickly though, the intense friendship between these two characters developed into something truly beautiful, one of the very few female friendships on television of such strength, honesty, and mutual adoration. The exploration and celebration of that relationship is what makes Broad City so special outside of its consistent hilarity, and judging on the premiere, nothing’s changed.
It’s really hot in New York City, and Abbi doesn’t have air conditioning.

Note: Do not read on if you have not yet seen Season 6, Episode 6 of AMC's "Mad Men," titled "For Immediate Release."
In the most recent "Mad Men" episode, Panabaker played Daisy McCluskey, a flight attendant that was sleeping with Roger Sterling (John Slattery) and ended up proving helpful when it came to Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce (and Cutler Gleason & Chaough) nabbing the Chevy account.
The now 25-year-old Panabaker got her start doing Disney Channel Original movies like 2004's "Stuck in the Suburbs" (with current "Saturday Night Live" cast member Taran Killam) and "Read It and Weep," a 2006 Disney movie she did with her younger sister and fellow actress Kay Panabaker.
Watch her in the former below:

Unlike the bulk of child actors who generally grow into having unfortunate adult lives full of addiction and infamy, Fred Savage has transitioned from being the adorable little tyke in things like The Princess Bride and The Wonder Years into being a television director who works regularly and keeps himself out of the tabloids. You’ve got to think that anyone who can handle being handed money and fame at that young of an age without going off the rails probably has a pretty good head on his shoulders, so it makes sense that Savage should now be getting the opportunity to helm his own feature film. What kind of feature film is he getting the opportunity to direct? Glad you asked. THR is reporting that he’s currently in negotiations to take over a comedy called Ladies Night that has Charlize Theron attached to star as well as produce. Seeing...

Broadway has never been a stranger to hosting young celebrities, but more often than not, it’s the girls who take the stage — Abigail Breslin, Claire Danes, Diana DeGarmo, Scarlett Johansson. (We really covered the spectrum with that list.) Given all the recent hubbub about How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying (which welcomed Nick Jonas this week), it’s nice to remember that Hollywood’s young leading men are also shipping out and hitting the Great White Way.
For starters, Jonas follows in the footsteps of Daniel Radcliffe and Darren Criss, who both starred in the revival of How to Succeed.

HollywoodNews.com:Directors Guild of America President Taylor Hackford today announced the DGA’s nominees for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Television and Commercials for the year 2011.
?The caliber of work being done on television these days is incredible, and our director nominees in each category are an indispensable element to the success of every project — establishing and enhancing the vision and tone, eliciting outstanding performances and furthering the narrative arc through their creative choices,? said Hackford. ?That they are able to create excellence regardless of obstacles like tighter schedules and in an environment in which audiences have more entertainment options to choose from — is a true testament to the importance of directorial skill in television.?
The winners will be announced at the 64th Annual DGA Awards Dinner on Saturday, January 28, 2012 at the Grand Ballroom at Hollywood & Highland in Los Angeles.

Tom Hanks (left) and Tim Allen (right) have worked together for more than a decade as the voices of Toy Story characters Woody (Hanks) and Buzz Lightyear (Allen). Now, they'll work together in real life, again for Disney. The two will star in Jungle Cruise, based on the (kinda lame) ride in Disney theme parks. On the Adventureland ride, folks ride in a boat that takes them down a waterway with alligators snapping and cannibals holding shrunken heads. The script is from "Jonas" and "Phil of the Future" exec producer Robert S.H. Schulman (Shrek).

Now that September is here the networks are in the final sprint for the new 2010-2011 season. If you watch TV you probably will have seen many of these shows advertised. The new season lineup includes inevitable staples (classic cop and legal dramas) and more peculiar blends (The Shield’s Michael Chiklis in a family series playing a dad with superpowers, for example); some legendary names (Jj Abrams, Shawn Ryan, Martin Scorsese, Steven Spielberg) and many fresh faces. A few shows like The Event (NBC), Running Wilde (Fox), Broadwalk Empire (HBO) or The Walking Dead (AMC) have already created buzz. For now, however, all of them are pure potential, waiting for their chance to conquer primetime. But despite any hopes or expectations, the only thing certain is that, among all of these promising shows, very few will make it to the second season mark.

The stalker of Disney star Aly Michalka, 25-year-old Ceasar Brantley, is determined to marry the 21-year-old singer and actress, “no matter what,” TMZ reported on June 20. The star of the Disney Channel show ‘Phil of the Future’ made the claims in legal documents she filed on March 1 in L.A. County Superior Court in support of a restraining order. Michalka was granted the restraining order, but that didn’t deter Brantley from continuing to stalk her. He was arrested arlier in June outside of Michalka’s house on suspicion of stalking. Brantley “…is an obsessed fan trying to come to my house to marry me,” she added. Brantley also has personal information about [...]...

Ashley Tisdale and Alyson Michalka are living proof that Disney Channel starlets grow up and move on. Tisdale, who first gained fame on Suite Life of Zack & Cody (TV) and later exploded along with Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens in the High School Musical (2006) franchise, is teaming up with Michalka, who co-starred on Phil of the Future (TV) and is a mainstay of Radio Disney, for an upcoming television series called Hellcats. Actually, Hellcats isn't quite a series yet. According to the Hollywood trade paper The Hollywood Reporter, right now it's a pilot for the CW, and if the network likes what it sees, then it'd go to series, probably this fall. Oh, and guess who's producing the show? There's no way you'll figure it out, to be honest, unless you've already heard the news: Superman himself, Tom Welling of the long-running CW series Smallville (TV), which was just renewed for a 10th season.

In her first regular broadcast series gig, actress-singer Ashley Tisdale has signed on to co-star on the CW pilot "Hellcats."
"Hellcats," which is executive produced by "Smallville" star Tom Welling, centers on Marti (Aly Michalka), a college girl from the wrong side of the tracks who, after losing her scholarship because of budget cutbacks and her mother's (Gail O'Grady) chronic irresponsibility, joins the Hellcats, the college's competitive cheerleading team.
"High School Musical" alumna Tisdale will play Sierra, the peppy and fiercely intense captain of the Hellcats who, after an initial clash with Marti, her new roommate, realizes that she just might be the godsend the Hellcats need to win the championship.
Like Michalka, who starred on Disney Channel's "Phil of the Future," Tisdale has also become a star on Disney Channel.

Savage Steve Holland, the writer-director of 1980s classics like "Better Off Dead", is returning to the genre that made his career with "The Big One 3", his first feature film in more than 18 years.
Warren Zide is producing via his Flipzide Studios along with JB Rogers.
Holland wrote and directed 1985's "Dead" and 1986's "One Crazy Summer", both starring John Cusack, before segueing into television, building a name for himself directing such shows as "Even Stevens", "Lizzie McGuire" and "Phil of the Future".
Zide described the script, which sat on Holland's shelf for a while, as something that will compliment "Dead" and "Summer", making it a trilogy of sorts.
"This is based on a true events in Savage's life," Zide said. "When he was a kid, he had his 13th birthday party and the only one that showed up was a clown, and all that that guy did was hit on his sister."
The family comedy centers on a father who will do whatever he can to make his 13-year-old son's birthday special because his was a disaster.
