A very likable movie
johno-212 February 2006
I saw this film back at the 2005 Palm Springs International Film Festival and really enjoyed it. Director Gregg Hale, Writer Rachel Davis and Actor Brandon Bales were on hand to introduce the film and for Q & A after. Daniel Myrick the Director of Blair Witch Project was at the screening also. Myrick worked with Hale on Balir Witch where Hale was one of the producers of that wildly successful film. This was Hale's Directorial debut and he finished with a good product. A wonderful coming of age-road story with a little intrigue and suspense thrown in. This was based on a story by Davis that closely resembled actual events in her life. I had hoped that a distributor would pick this up for theatrical wide-release but it looks like that never happened. Too bad. Movies like this are so much better than most of the drivel that the major studios pump out to audiences. Since this had a youthful college age theme with a great soundtrack from Athens Georgia unsigned musicians I thought this would have a chance. This was a good film and despite it's youthful theme maybe distributors felt it was too grownup in the long run to appeal to today's youth. I gave it a 7.5 out of a possible 10 and would recommend it.
