and everything goes astray. One man - whom we never see - and a boy end up in the latter's apartment to engage in sex. Things are heated, as in a one night stand, one presumes. What is perhaps the director's signature employment of voice-over, is here put to the contrary use from what he usually does, that is using it in a light-hearted ironic way; the irony is here, but, from what we gather, makes us share the more-than-hint that the man has AIDS.

Also, that this condition echoes the common run of compulsive engagement in sex: none of the two pauses for precaution, so the boy, confronting the camera/man just before the end and after the consummation speaks for the first time in the short, addressing the question "Why are you looking me like that?", and we may really ask ourselves at that point how we are looking at him. The camera drifts to an oblique shot of the room, then back to him, then back to the room. The man says nothing, but we are left alone: the boy has turned his back to indifference or who knows what, and the man has ceased his voiced thoughts. We are left alone uneasily I think, since it is at this point that the fact of our being precipitously if at all invited in the short sinks, to what thoughts one gathers for himself.
