At the NBCUniversal upfronts, they saved the best for almost last: “Late Night With Seth Meyers” host Seth Meyers hit the Radio City Music Hall stage to throw out a few quips before introducing NBCUniversal ad sales chief Mark Marshall.
Meyers came out swinging: “Hello and welcome to the NBC upfronts. If you’re looking for the Fox News upfronts, that’s happening outside a lower Manhattan courtroom,” he said to chuckles.
He then took aim at the broadcast industry: “What a joy to be back in Radio City Music Hall. I asked an NBC executive why do you hold upfronts here every year and they said, ‘I like looking at the marquee and thinking, “Sure. It’s a tricky time for TV but it couldn’t be worse. We could be in radio.”’”
The uncertain fate of Paramount Global was ripe for comment: “Also, not to brag — a very good day for me.

Fans of Deal Or No Deal Island are slamming a certain group of players for being bullies. The group “Night Owls” is not a fan favorite as they have been ganging up on Boston Rob and Aron Barbell. The group recently lost one of their members when he took a personal amount of money and got eliminated. However, this did not stop them from bullying the other two people they wanted gone.
Deal Or No Deal Island Fan Favorite
Boston Rob Mariano is a fan-favorite of the show. Fans have said they will stop watching the show altogether if he goes home. Another favorite is his partner in crime, Aron Barbell. Boston has taken Aron under his wing and viewers are here for it. He has continued to fight for Aron and vice versa. However, it seems to be the two of them against the rest of the players. The...

Mayor of Kingstown is one show whose popularity has been growing steeply. The dedication put in by Jeremy Renner, Hugh Dillon, and all those involved in the making of the show is noticed throughout. A lot had gone into the series and research was the biggest aspect. As is in any show, without proper research or understanding, there is always room for error no matter what.

The last 70 years of science fiction, horror, and fantasy wouldn't just look remarkably different without the works of Richard Matheson, they'd be comparatively barren. Okay, this is a touch hyperbolic, but only a touch! Yes, we'd still have the transporting, thought-provoking works of maestros like Ray Bradbury, Isaac Asimov, Philip K. Dick, and so many others, but could you imagine living in a world sans such essential tales as "The Incredible Shrinking Man," "I Am Legend," "Hell House," and dozens upon dozens of eerily prescient (or just straight up horrifying) short stories? And these weren't just spellbinding reads. They formed the basis for many memorable movies, and, perhaps most influentially, 16 unforgettable episodes of "The Twilight Zone."
Countless writers and filmmakers have cited Matheson as crucial to their development as genre storytellers (Stephen King considers "Hell House" to be "the scariest haunted house novel ever written"), and you could argue that...

A Universal Monsters project is coming our way from Radio Silence, the filmmaking team that previously brought Ready or Not, Scream (2022), and Scream VI to the screen. Universal has scheduled an April 19, 2024 theatrical release date for the film, which was once going by the title Dracula’s Daughter and now going by the less informative title of Abigail. With the release date just a couple weeks away, the film has gotten a new trailer, which you can check out in the embed above, as well as a Dolby Cinema poster, which can be seen at the bottom of this article.
Radio Silence members Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett directed the film, while the third member of the trio, Chad Villella, is a producer. Their Scream movie collaborators William Sherak, Paul Neinstein, and James Vanderbilt of Project X Entertainment are also producing the monster movie alongside their Ready or Not producer Tripp Vinson.

New Delhi, March 22 (Ians)There may not be anything like an entirely historically accurate film. With liberties taken and not merely tweaked to make incidents more palatable or believable in order to tell a certain story, there could be numerous valid reasons for a storyteller’s dire need to change parts of history.
Unless incidents are altered completely, that may still be explicable or pardonable because contemporary accounts may be coloured by a particular ideology, and isn’t it every director’s prerogative to present his or her point of view? What filmmakers cannot afford to get away with is a shoddy narrative that struggles to stay afloat — or poor acting that fails to strike a chord.

Peacock and USA Network are ready to introduce reality TV fans to a brand new family. On The McBee Dynasty: Real American Cowboys, fans will get an in-depth look at the life of a ranching family. The series is being called the real-life Yellowstone. While it makes sense that a show about a ranching family would be developed, The McBees aren’t the only successful ranchers in the country. So, why were they tasked with sharing their lives with the world? Apparently, the idea for the show only took root after a family member appeared on a dating show. Joe Millionaire: For Richer or Poorer helped the McBee family get their show.

Quebec’s recent domestic box office charmers “One Summer” and “Ru” lead Canada’s diverse acquisition slate of 17 features — many coming off strong, award-speckled festival runs — screening for buyers at the Berlinale’s European Film Market.
More than half the 20 Canadian titles screening across the EFM and festival are Quebec productions, a ratio that reflects the resilience of the province’s film industry, not to mention the next wave of filmmaking talent and the return of Quebec audiences to cinemas.
“Ru,” an adaptation of Vietnamese-born Canadian novelist Kim Thúy’s prize-winning, widely translated 2009 novel, is nearing the $2 million mark in Canada and is the latest in a string of Quebec films to earn more than $1 million at the domestic box office in 2023.

Dakota Johnson has just a few more days of press before Sony’s “Madame Web” arrives in theaters, but until then she’s speaking her mind.
Speaking with French outlet L’Officiel, Johnson talked about how her independent two-hander “Daddio,” co-starring Sean Penn, took far too long to find a distributor after its Telluride debut last fall. (The film eventually landed a release deal with Sony Pictures Classics and is due out in theaters this year.)
“People are just so afraid, and I’m like, ‘Why? What’s going to happen if you do something brave?’ It just feels like nobody knows what to do and everyone’s afraid. That’s what it feels like. Everyone who makes decisions is afraid. They want to do the safe thing and the safe thing is really boring,” she said, clearly with little love for decision-making executives in Hollywood.

The end of any given year is a strange liminal space outside of time where one begins to reflect upon the days that were and the uncertain days still to come. It’s weird. Some might even say it’s a zone … of twilight. Yes, the New Year represents the perfect occasion for a marathon of Rod Serling’s sci-fi/horror anthological masterpiece. And sure enough, Twilight Zone marathons on TV have been a mainstay of the season for quite some time.
The New Year’s Eve Twilight Zone marathon is one of TV’s most consistent and perhaps least understood traditions. The yearly marathon has been taking place since at least 1980 but no one is quite sure who started it (regional TV stations New York’s Wpix or Los Angeles’ Ktla are the two best candidates) or when it even made the jump from Thanksgiving to New Year’s Eve.

Studio Support Matters More Than Gender or Race for Blockbuster Movie Success, Annenberg Study Finds
Dr. Stacy L. Smith’s annual USC Annenberg research study concerning the correlation between onscreen inclusivity and box office success again debunks certain conventional wisdom about who can lead a blockbuster. The core findings of the study show that studio resources and backing are more important than whether a given film is headlined by a white guy or a Black woman. One big reason why “Barbie” broke out with $1.4 billion this summer is that Warner Bros. Discovery treated it like an A-level tentpole release. That isn’t always the case for films headlined by “not a white guy” actors.
The study, by Dr. Smith and the Annenberg Inclusion Initiative, updates and extends the group’s previous economic analyses. Examining 126 top-grossing, live-action, single-led films from 2021 and 2022, the report overviews differences in box office earnings alongside factors that contribute to success, such as a film’s budget, marketing costs, and distribution density.

“True Blood” star Joe Manganiello will host “Deal or No Deal Island,” a new spin on the game show, NBCUniversal announced Wednesday.
The competition starts when 13 players are transported to a private island to compete for cash in a season-long competition. They’ll have to tackle “thrilling challenges, mind-bending dilemmas and the classic game of ‘Deal or No Deal'”
As contestants try to beat the banker, Manganiello will lead the game play, relay the banker’s offers and help them make those tough decisions.
“The role of ‘Deal or No Deal’ host has always been held by someone charming, hilarious and devastatingly handsome,” said Corie Henson, EVP of unscripted content at NBCUniversal Entertainment.
“When we took the show out of the studio and transported the game to the Banker’s island, Joe was the obvious choice. He loves all kinds of games, lives for adventure and isn’t afraid...

A recently released promo by Sony Sab for their new show ‘Vanshaj’ featuring a young girl who stakes a claim to a leadership position in her family business set the ball rolling on an interesting point to ponder. The tradition of passing down the reins of the family enterprise primarily to male heirs is a practice deeply ingrained in Indian family businesses which has long been observed.
However, in today’s era it is important to raise questions about gender equality even in the realm of family inheritance. In fact if we were to reflect on statistics, according to a survey conducted by PwC in 2019, in 58% of the family businesses in India which have the next generation working in the business, there are no women. But why is it that gender has been allowed to trump capability in the selection of successors for family businesses in India so far?

The hosts and panelists of “Morning Joe” added their voices to the chorus criticizing the launch of Ron DeSantis’ presidential campaign, after the announcement via Twitter Spaces was plagued by glitches on Wednesday night.
On Thursday morning’s episode of the MSNBC talk show, the hosts and panelists pretty much agreed unanimously that DeSantis’ launch went as poorly as it could go, after starting 20 minutes late because Twitter’s servers purportedly couldn’t handle the volume of people tuning in to listen (which former Twitter CEO Elon Musk and DeSantis’ camp have been spinning as a good thing).
“I mean, it was an abomination,” former White House Communications Director Jennifer Palmieri said bluntly. “And just so much hubris all around, from DeSantis, from Musk — by the way, 700,000 people is not that much. Like, Twitter should be able to handle 700,000 people.”

Harrison Ford isn’t allowing for any critiques of the flashback scenes in “Indiana Jones at the Dial of Destiny.” At a press conference following the debut of the picture at the Cannes Film Festival, the 80-year-old performer, who earlier received a surprise honorary Palme D’Or through misty eyes during a standing ovation, stood up for the way images of his younger self are incorporated into the movie. He also explained how the “de-aging” technique seen in “Dial” is different from what you’ll see of Jeff Bridges in “Tron Legacy” or even Robert De Niro in “The Irishman.”
“I know that that is my face,” the Academy Award-nominated actor said. “It’s not a kind of Photoshop magic—that’s what I looked like 35 years ago. Because Lucasfilm has every frame of film that we’ve made together over all of these years.

Survivor has aired 44 seasons and has been on the air for almost 23 years. Throughout the CBS reality competition series’ run, there have been plenty of epic highs and a handful of disastrous lows as producers introduce new elements to the game. Some have completely changed the series for the better, while other Survivor twists long to be forgotten by the show’s fans.

Jack Dayton never struck me as a petty Sob, but it appears he is.
After Sharon refused to let his camera crew invade a patient's privacy on Chicago Med Season 8 Episode 17, Dayton barred the doctors from using Or 2.0 on subsidized patients.
I'm not sure how legal it is to do that, but it certainly is obnoxious.
Dayton's love of technology and the hospital's mandates have often been at odds, but not to this degree. Dayton appeared to genuinely care about patients despite his conflict of interest, but was that all an act?
And what does he mean by paying customers? Few people can pay out of pocket for procedures, and hospitals usually won't schedule them until they get pre-authorization. If Dayton plans only to offer 2.0 services to his rich friends who can afford to pay out of pocket, that will blow up badly in his face.

Indiana Jones, Han Solo, Jack Ryan, and Rick Deckard – beloved Hollywood icon Harrison Ford goes by many names and deserves every bit of admiration that comes his way. The 80-year-old actor has dominated blockbuster franchises while also demonstrating masterful performances in acclaimed films like “Witness,” “The Mosquito Coast,” “The Fugitive,” and “Sabrina,” to name a few. So what’s left to conquer? TV — a task that Ford is actively and successfully pursuing with the new Paramount+ Western drama “1923” and the Apple TV+ comedy series “Shrinking.” Both projects give plenty of room for this big star to shine bright enough to earn his first (and possibly second) Emmy nomination in 2023.
“Shrinking,” created by Brett Goldstein, Bill Lawrence, and Jason Segel, explores grief and the complexity of human life through humor. Ford plays a senior psychiatrist named Paul who works at the Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Center along with his colleagues Gaby (Jessica Williams...

Lotus drummer Chuck Morris and his son Charley are feared dead after the pair went missing over a week ago.
Morris, 47, and his 20-year-old son had gone on a kayaking trip in Arkansas when they disappeared.
The pair were reported missing after they vanished on Beaver Lake on Thursday (16 March).
A rescue mission ensued from the Cajun Coast Search and Rescue team, who searched the 31,000 acre lake, CBS News reports.
However, due to failed attempts to find the father and son, the mission has now changed to a recovery search.
The band posted on social media to update fans on the situation, writing: "We were all hoping for a miracle, but at this point, the search for Chuck and Charley has moved to a recovery.”
“With help from K9 teams, there is a probable location on the lake, but logistical challenges including temp, weather, and depth have prevented a recovery thus far.

While Netflix is still waiting for its first Best Picture win, the king of streaming is on the cusp of taking home a different Oscar: the one for Best Animated Feature.
“Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio,” directed by the Oscar winner and Mark Gustafson, is a reimagining of Carlo Collodi’s classic tale about a wooden puppet who comes to life. Featuring the voices of Gregory Mann and David Bradley as Pinocchio and his father, the carpenter Geppetto, respectively, the film also includes a memorable turn from two-time Oscar winner Cate Blanchett, nominated again this year for her work in “TÁR,” as the mistreated monkey Spazzatura.
The film received rave reviews when it premiered and is considered a visually stunning interpretation of the source material that leans into darker themes about life and death. It is a perfect example of how animation lends itself to more than just so-called movies for children.

“Deep Dive” is a in-depth podcast and video essay series with the stars and creative team behind an exceptional piece of filmmaking. For this winter edition, the IndieWire Crafts team partnered with Prime Video to take a closer look at the first season of “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” with showrunners J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay, stars Morfydd Clark, Sophia Nomvete, and Charlie Vickers, and eight key members of the creative team behind the series.
“The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” truly embraces both halves of its “based on ‘The Lord of the Rings’ and appendices by J.R.R. Tolkien” credit. Lots of people know “The Lord of the Rings”: “The Fellowship of the Ring,” “The Two Towers,” and “The Return of the King” have sold millions of copies and were later adapted by Peter Jackson into a box-office-conquering, Oscar-hoarding series of feature films.

The show that follows looks the way that life often feels. Moments of romance are drenched in the warmth of a sunset, plans to get ahead flow in montage, and crisis can come out of nowhere like a hard cut.
The Netflix series can turn on a dime from lightning-fast comedy to the joy of culture and belonging to crushing heartbreak. But this kind of heightened comedy with real, complex emotion at its heart can be hard to manage. On this episode of the Filmmaker Toolkit podcast, showrunner Mo Amer discusses how he and his team built a series that’s able to juggle its tonal ambitions,...
