Sex & Nudity

  • In this movie, bolt gets neutered. (That didn't happen, whoever put that there lied.)

Violence & Gore

  • We see an extended sequence where Bolt and Penny have to evade a number of pursers. This includes motorcycles and a moment where Bolt jumps over a helicopter's rotors. However, some of this is mitigated by some of the comic moments (inlcuding a moment where a villain with a bomb throws it into the air to avoid being blown up, only to hit a helicopter flying above him). This is then later revealed to be a sequence from a television show.
  • A similiar scene from the television show is seen being filmed, but this time with an emphasis on the backstage techniques that heavily mitigates any violence in the sequence.
  • Mittens gets attacked by Bolt and pushed up against a dumpster.
  • Mittens gets dragged by Bolt and hits a mail box, knocking her out for a short while.
  • After jumping out of a moving truck travelling fast on the highway, Bolt notices that "red liquid" is coming out of his paw, and Mittens informs him that it's blood. However, you don't see the "red liquid".
  • A series of events leads to a canister shooting out of a room into a sign that hits a flammable tanker, causing an explosion. No one is injured and played more for laughs. At the pet store.

Profanity

  • 1 use of 'golly'.
  • 4 uses of 'Oh, my gosh'.
  • 1 use of 'butt' (in context; not name-calling).
  • 3 uses of 'stupid'--only one directed at a life-form (a cat).

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • One jumpscare scene with Bolt pouncing at Mittens.
  • Dr. Calico's "soldiers" have quite intimidating uniforms with aggressive looking helmets and long nails on their gloves (the hand looks like is from a witch). These pictures can frighten some children.
  • The first eleven minutes of the movie are quite "dark" and intense: Lots of action, car chasing, car crashes, missiles, large explosions of military helicopters e.tc.. The storytelling is too fast and reminds a lot of adult action movies. Really intense.
  • Bolt dangles Mittens over a bridge by her neck. The street is seen filled with bustling traffic

Spoilers

The Parents Guide items below may give away important plot points.

Violence & Gore

  • Penny and Bolt get trapped in a burning building in an extended scene (see below). Frightening.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • During an argument, Mittens angrily states that no human ever really loves a pet because her former owners declawed and then abandoned her. She gets sad when she says that since then, she's always wondered what she did wrong.
  • The "villain" on "bolt series" (Dr. Calico), has a very intimidating figure plus he has one luminous green eye, with a long shaped vertical pupil like the one that cats have. He looks very frightening.
  • Towards the end of the movie, Penny gets stuck in a burning (indoor) movie studio; there is lots of smoke and fire, Bolt finds her and they are lie together for a couple of minutes surrounded by smoke. Penny starts to become weak due to the fumes, but Bolt manages to bark into the ventilation, alerting fireman outside that they are inside. The next scene shows them both being taken in the ambulance and the EMT saying that they are okay. However, although Penny is evidently okay, Bolt still appears "dead" for several more minutes and just lies on Penny's chest. Later on in a TV sequence, Penny is recovering in a hospital, but Dr. Calico sneaks in, but Bolt rescues Penny. Just as they leap out, they're pulled up by alien spaceships. Later it's revealed as a TV episode of Bolt.
